The Democrat Party is in shambles.
But even after countless scandals, they somehow stay afoot.
But could this new scandal involving one of their top officials bring everything tumbling down?
Recently, the FBI seized smashed computer hard drives from the home of Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s (D-FL) information technology (IT) administrator.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz is no stranger to controversy.
Most famously, she was forced out of her position as chairperson of the Democratic National Committee for allegedly undermining Bernie Sander’s 2016 presidential campaign.
But this latest scandal has the likelihood to be even more damaging and could end her political career.
As reported by The Daily Caller:
“FBI agents seized smashed computer hard drives from the home of Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s information technology (IT) administrator, according to two sources with knowledge of the investigation.
Pakistani-born Imran Awan, long-time right-hand IT aide to the former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman, has since desperately tried to get the hard drives back, an individual whom FBI investigators interviewed in the case told The Daily Caller News Foundation’s Investigative Group.
An additional source in Congress with direct knowledge of the case, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the probe, confirmed that the FBI has joined what Politico previously described as a Capitol Police criminal probe into “serious, potentially illegal, violations on the House IT network” by Imran and three of his relatives, who had access to the emails and files of the more than two dozen House Democrats who employed them on a part-time basis.”
Imran Awan, a native of Pakistan, has worked for Wasserman Schultz since 2005, and in his time has been known for his shady practices.
All of his shady practices came to a head in February when a criminal probe into him was revealed.
In response, Awan abruptly moved out of his longtime home in Virginia, placing it for rent on a website that connects landlords with military families.
One of his tenants – a Marine Corps veteran – said he found “wireless routers, hard drives that look like they tried to destroy, laptops, [and] a lot of brand new expensive toner.”
Shortly after his discovery, the Marine Corps veteran contacted authorities and was quickly met by FBI agents and Capitol Police who interviewed him and confiscated the equipment.
Awan was furious about this development and even threatened to sue the Marine veteran for theft.
In response, the Marine veteran stated:
“It was in the garage. They recycled cabinets and lined them along the walls. They left in a huge hurry,” the Marine said. “It looks like government-issued equipment. We turned that stuff over.”
“It was unbelievable. I don’t know where they get off thinking they’re going to sue us for items we have no obligation to hold onto,” he said.”
Wasserman Shultz was also not pleased by the seizing of the equipment.
She demanded the return of one of the laptops seized by Capitol Police, stating it was purportedly used by Awan, and was found hidden in a vacant office.
Wasserman Schultz even used a Capitol Police budget hearing to threaten “consequences” for them if the laptop wasn’t returned.
Do you think this scandal should end Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s political career?
