North Korea’s nuclear weapons program is the biggest crisis facing the Trump administration.
Kim Jong Un is threatening global thermonuclear war.
But Donald Trump just sent North Korea a message that stunned the world.
Trump pulled off a diplomatic victory when he convinced the United Nations Security Council to impose crippling new economic sanctions on North Korea.
Trump was able to pull off something his critics doubted was possible when he skillfully negotiated with China and Russia to back the sanctions.
It was another example of Trump’s abilities as a deal maker and another success in foreign affairs.
The Daily Caller reports:
“UNSC Resolution 2371, which targets North Korea’s primary exports — specifically coal, iron and iron ore, lead and lead ore, and seafood, passed unanimously. The sanctions also put other sources of revenue, such as banks and joint ventures, in the cross hairs. The sanctions are expected to cut the North’s exports revenue by a third, roughly $1 billion.
“We said that the time for talking was over and that it was time for action. Today you’re going to see the action. It’s going to hit hard but it’s going to make a strong point to North Korea that all this ICBM and this nuclear irresponsibility has to stop,” Haley said at the UNSC gathering.”
Trump took to Twitter to announce the accomplishment and explain its significance to the American people.
The United Nations Security Council just voted 15-0 to sanction North Korea. China and Russia voted with us. Very big financial impact!

United Nations Resolution is the single largest economic sanctions package ever on North Korea. Over one billion dollars in cost to N.K.

The new sanctions come in the wake of North Korea successfully testing an intercontinental ballistic missile that has the capability of striking the United States.
America has been prepping for conflict with North Korea, but Trump is working to resolve the situation peacefully.
As part of his negotiating strategy, Trump had been threatening to crack down on trade with China.
Trump used both the carrot and the stick.
Since China needs us as a trading partner, they came back to the negotiating table and helped work out the new sanctions.
In exchange, Trump postponed any announcement on trade.
These sanctions are an important step – but not the final move – toward ending the North Korea nuclear standoff without it escalating into a shooting war.
This was a significant achievement for Trump.
