Democrats are reaching the “break glass in case of emergency” stage with Joe Biden.
The bad news they feared just rolled in.
And a jaw-dropping new poll showing Trump beating Biden just had all hell breaking loose.
Ann Selzer of the Selzer polling group is one of the most accurate pollsters in America.
In 2008, Selzer found herself far ahead of the curve when her poll stood out as the one survey that showed Barack Obama would defeat Hillary Clinton in 2008 Iowa Caucuses.
Last November Selzer was the only pollster to accurately forecast Donald Trump and Republican Senator Joni Ernst’s romps in the races in Iowa.
Now Selzer just produced a poll for Grinnell College that flashed blinking red lights of danger for Democrats about a hypothetical 2024 rematch between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
Selzer found that Trump and Biden would start out tied 40 to 40 in a head-to-head matchup.
“#GrinnellPoll findings: @JoeBiden won the presidency in 2020 with 54% of the independent vote. Today that support is at 28%. If the 2024 election were today, Biden and Trump would both get 40% of the vote–with 14% saying they would vote for someone else,” Grinnell College tweeted.
Most disturbing for Democrats was Joe Biden’s erosion with independent voters.
In 2020, Joe Biden won them 54 to 41 percent.
But Selzer’s poll found Biden plummeting to just 28 percent support among independents with Trump leading by a landslide 17 points – 45 to 28 percent – with this crucial voting bloc.
“President Biden won independent voters by a 54% to 41% margin,” Selzer wrote. “If the election were held today, our poll shows former President Trump winning that group 45% to 28%.”
Other polling data and the facts on the ground explained Biden’s slide and Trump’s re-emergence.
A new Morning Consult/POLITICO poll found 38 percent of voters listed the economy as their number one issue.
Biden’s numbers cratered as 62 percent of Americans blame Joe Biden’s policies for the runaway inflation eating away at their paychecks.
Americans feel it at the grocery store with the New York Post reporting that “the cost of food has increased 4.6 percent since last year, with the prices for meat, poultry, fish and eggs topping the list of food items at 10.5 percent.”
Year-over-year inflation is skyrocketing during Joe Biden’s first year in office from Donald Trump’s last year.
“In August, the inflation rate was up 5.3 percent compared to a year ago, meaning a household with the median annual income of about $70,000, pays an extra $175 a month on food, fuel and housing,” the Post also reported.
Joe Biden caused an inflation crisis, a border crisis, and a crisis during the withdrawal from Afghanistan with disastrous policy choices.
And now the polls are picking up the fact that the American people view Joe Biden like a Jimmy Carter-esque failure and are moving back to Donald Trump.
