Joe Biden and his administration stepped in it big time.
Now all hell is breaking loose.
And a key senator said Joe Biden did Donald Trump one huge favor in this major lawsuit.
During a White House press briefing, Jen Psaki declared that the Biden administration pressured Facebook to censor accounts spreading “misinformation” about the coronavirus vaccine.
The Biden administration missed its goal of 70 percent of adults receiving one dose of the vaccine by July 4 and instead of promoting speech about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines, the administration responded by demanding Big Tech censor Biden’s enemies.
Psaki claimed it was up to Facebook to “measure and publicly share the impact of misinformation on their platform” as well “create robust enforcement strategies.”
What Psaki meant by “robust enforcement strategies” was following government dictates to ban speech.
Psaki took it one step further and claimed the tech companies should collude to act in unison to ban any American when one social media platform banned them.
“You shouldn’t be banned from one platform and not others for providing misinformation,” Psaki added.
Psaki reiterated the end goal was a government-initiated censorship campaign on Facebook.
“We’re flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation,” Psaki continued.
Joe Biden even got into the act accusing Facebook of murder.
In response to a question by NBC’s Peter Alexander about what his message was to Facebook, Biden declared “They’re killing people.”
Texas Senator Ted Cruz slammed these comments.
Cruz blasted the Biden administration for colluding with Big Tech to censor the flow of information on social media.
But Cruz noted the Biden administration openly bragging about demanding the tech companies act in concert to control the flow of information boosted Donald Trump’s lawsuit against Big Tech where Trump claimed the social media platforms functioned as state actors and not private companies.
“The White House explicitly demands total collusion from Big Tech billionaires to censor what the American people can & cannot say.” Cruz added,“Silver lining: Biden Admin is daily dramatically strengthening argument in Trump lawsuit that Big Tech censorship is state action.”
Communist countries like Cuba and China turn off the internet on a whim and control what their citizens can read and see online.
Now the Biden administration copied that model.
But there could be a pretty big downside.
As Solicitor General of Texas, Ted Cruz argued nine cases before the Supreme Court.
Cruz is a constitutional scholar, and Cruz believes the Biden administration committed a key error in announcing it would insist Facebook censor speech by confirming Donald Trump’s argument that Facebook is a state actor.
The First Amendment applies to state actors.
And of all people – Joe Biden and Jen Psaki –the administration made statements the Trump legal team can use in court to bolster Trump’s lawsuit against Big Tech.
