Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez picked another high-profile fight.
This time she wished she never started this feud.
And that’s because a Navy SEAL war hero shut down Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with one truth bomb.
Moderate Texas Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw lost an eye while serving in Afghanistan.
While campaigning for Republican Senator David Perdue ahead of the January 5 Georgia runoff election, Crenshaw explained to voters that if Perdue’s Democrat opponent Jon Ossoff won the race Democrats would control the Senate and Chuck Schumer would serve as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s puppet.
Crenshaw mocked Ocasio-Cortez’s claim that Republicans did not understand hard work by comparing her past to his time serving in the mountains of Afghanistan fighting the Taliban and Al Qaeda.
“These people are nuts. It’s not just Chuck Schumer. Chuck Schumer is controlled by people like AOC, who believes the biggest hardship in life was figuring our whether it was still or sparkling, and you don’t know hardship till you’ve cried in the back,” Crenshaw began.
“I was thinking like geez, I’m so glad I didn’t have to do that in my former career. That was our biggest problem in the mountains of Afghanistan was figuring out if we offer them still or sparkling and what if they didn’t like it? Rough out there, man,” Crenshaw added.
“That’s Congress these days. We cannot give these people control,” Crenshaw concluded.
Ocasio-Cortez responded to Crenshaw’s comments with a characteristically stupid tweet that completely missed the point of what Crenshaw was communicating by falsely claiming Crenshaw and other Republicans sneered at working class Americans.
“The GOP acts like they care, but behind closed doors, this is what they actually say about the working class. Good to know how little you truly think of food workers, @DanCrenshawTX. I wonder: did you have catering while bonding w/ wealthy donors over your disdain for the poor,” Ocasio-Cortez shot back.
Crenshaw mocked Ocasio-Cortez for her tweet that completely missed its mark.
“Lol thank you for highlighting how ridiculous you sound. We ‘republican elites’ who fought in the mountains of Afghanistan will just go ahead and check our privilege,” Crenshaw responded.
Picking a fight with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is good for any Republican looking to build their national profile.
Some insiders believe Crenshaw will run for President in 2024.
But many conservatives are opposed to that idea.
Crenshaw opposes Donald Trump’s “America First” foreign policy and supports the establishment George W. Bush/Barack Obama foreign policy of endless war in the Middle East.
The Texas Congressman also supports laws that allow judges to order the police to confiscate Americans’ firearms.
Many Trump supporters view Crenshaw—who harshly criticized President Trump during the 2016 campaign—as the ideological successor to John McCain.
So picking a fight with Ocasio-Cortez is likely to draw universal Republican support, but it does not make up for Crenshaw’s history of liberal positions on the issues and criticism of President Trump.
