Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez smelled blood in the water.
Establishment Republicans were all too eager to play along.
And this RINO sellout took Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez by surprise with a stunning offer.
After Kevin McCarthy failed on three straight ballots to win the position of speaker of the House Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared on MSNBC and floated the idea of McCarthy coming to the Democrats hat in hand to form a coalition government.
Ocasio-Cortez claimed it was clear McCarthy could not secure the 218 votes to become speaker and that Democrats would be willing to bargain.
“I do not believe that Kevin McCarthy has the votes. I believe that a lot of the opposition to him is very personal. I believe his leadership style is incompatible with a lot of Republican members and certainly the Democratic Caucus.” Ocasio-Cortez began.
“So the question is, is there anyone in their caucus that can build that consensus? If there isn’t, McCarthy’s team may have to come to the Democratic Party. And, if that’s the case, then what would that even look like? It’s rather unprecedented. Could it result in a potential coalition government?” Ocasio-Cortez added.
Ocasio-Cortez said if McCarthy faced no other path to becoming speaker of the House Democrats would be willing to listen to what McCarthy would offer them in exchange for necessary votes.
“I’m not saying necessarily that our party is signaling an openness just yet,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “But, really, it’s about the cards that are in McCarthy’s hands. And if he chooses to approach the Democratic Caucus, then that would be a negotiation, in and of itself, for a potential coalition government. But, again, this is very much an unprecedented time.”
In such a scenario McCarthy would have to pledge to make sure Democrats won an equal share of committee chairmanships as well as holding equal subpoena power with Republicans.
That would mean Republicans could not investigate Joe Biden’s involvement in Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals, the illegal alien invasion at the southern border, and the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Amazingly, RINOs in the House were entertaining completely neutering the GOP majority if they could not get their way on Kevin McCarthy.
Appearing on CNN after Ocasio-Cortez’s interview RINO Nebraska Congressman Don Bacon stated that his fellow establishment Republicans were in the early stages of seeing if they could put together a coalition government with Democrats.
“There are preliminary talks but we don’t want to go too fast on this because that then hijacks what Kevin is trying to do and we want to support Kevin,” Bacon announced.
Bacon fumed that the RINOs would rather burn down the entire Republican majority and hand control of the House over to Democrats unless conservatives agree to their demands that Kevin McCarthy — and only Kevin McCarthy — serve as speaker of the House.
“This is about leading the greatest country in the world and we cannot let a small handful of folks that are on the extreme part of our conference, one of the smallest caucuses that we have, we can’t let them control the entire House of Representatives,” Bacon concluded.
