The Republican grassroots turned out in force during the 2016 election to make sure Donald Trump picked the next Supreme Court justice.
When President Trump nominated Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, Republicans believed a long sought-after conservative majority was in hand.
But all of that is now in question as this Supreme Court Justice revealed a terrible betrayal that will make Trump see red.
The Supreme Court agreed to hear a legal challenge to Louisiana law requiring abortion providers that routinely terminate babies’ lives to obtain hospital admitting privileges.
Abortion is a dangerous and risky medical procedure that pro-abortion activists pressure women to undergo.
Democrats claim this law is a backdoor scheme to end abortion in America by closing abortion clinics because providers do not have hospital admitting privileges.
In 2016 the Supreme Court ruled in Hellerstedt v. Whole Woman’s Health that a Texas law similar to the Louisiana statute was unconstitutional.
Justice Anthony Kennedy provided the swing vote that granted liberals a victory in that case.
Chief Justice John Roberts voted to uphold the Texas law.
With Brett Kavanaugh replacing Anthony Kennedy, conservatives expected that the Supreme Court would protect the unborn and uphold the Louisiana law.
But in oral arguments, it became clear that Chief Justice Roberts succumbed to Chuck Schumer’s threats of physical violence.
Before the case Schumer claimed that Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh would “pay the price” for voting to uphold legislation that saved the lives of innocent women and babies.
“Over the last three years, women’s reproductive rights have come under attack in a way we haven’t seen in modern history. From Louisiana, to Missouri, to Texas, Republican legislatures are waging a war on women, all women, and they’re taking away fundamental rights. I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you, if you go forward with these awful decisions,” Schumer threatened.
Roberts bowed to Schumer and asked questions during oral arguments that hinted that Roberts would find a way to justify switching his vote to reject the Louisiana law and uphold the 2016 precedent.
“As far as the benefits of the law, that’s going to be the same in each state, isn’t it?” Roberts asked of the lawyers in the case.
This is typical of Roberts.
Roberts voted the pro-life position in 2016 because he knew he would be in the minority.
In the Louisiana case, Roberts is reversing course because as a member of the Washington establishment Roberts knows the liberal media and powers that be hold abortion as the Holy Grail of the liberal project to reshape America.
Roberts will never vote to defend the unborn because doing so would cast him as history’s greatest villain to those that write the news stories that will forever shape the perception of Roberts in the minds of millions of Americans.
