House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff is driving the Democrats’ impeachment express.
Schiff’s been after the President from day one and now the California Democrats think he finally has the smoking gun to bring down Donald Trump.
But Adam Schiff just got some really bad news about his plan to impeach President Trump.
The Democrats can pass articles of impeachment against the President by sheer virtue owning the majority.
Democrats believe the public is on their side in this fight.
And some recent public opinion surveys show an increasing number of Americans support an impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump.
However, those shifts in the polls are tied mainly to Democrats supporting the proposition now that impeachment is the party’s official position.
And while impeachment may be popular with the unhinged Democrat Party base, it does not play well in the districts that will determine control of the House of Representatives.
The National Republican Congressional Committee commissioned a poll of Republican-held battleground seats and targeted districts Republicans hope to pick up in 2020.
Democrats quickly found out that pursuing impeachment put their House Majority in serious jeopardy.
“Two-thirds (63%) of voters in NRCC target seats and 66% of voters in Republican-held battleground seats agree that Democrats in Congress are too obsessed with impeaching the President and should be working on issues they campaign on such as funding our military, improving the nation’s infrastructure, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, and caring for our nation’s veterans,” the NRCC polling memo read.
“A full 52% percent of voters in NRCC target seats and 53% of voters in Republican-held battleground seats say that the top priority of Democrats in Congress is impeaching President Trump,” the memo continued.
Forty-six percent of voters in NRCC target seats are less likely to vote for a candidate for Congress who supports impeachment.
Fifty-one percent of voters age 45-64 in Republican-held battleground seats and 56% of voters age 65+ in NRCC target seats are less likely to vote for a candidate for Congress who supports impeachment.
Impeachment is Adam Schiff’s show.
Nancy Pelosi tapped Schiff and the House Intelligence Committee to steer articles of impeachment through the House.
Schiff’s time as the face of the impeachment fight proved to be a disaster.
During Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire’s testimony, Schiff fabricated a conversation between Donald Trump and the Ukrainian President to frame Trump for being guilty.
Schiff also lied on MSNBC and claimed his staff never had any contact with the so-called “whistleblower.”
That was false.
The New York Times reported that the so-called “whistleblower” contacted Schiff’s staff before the spy filed their complaint with the intelligence community inspector general.
Schiff’s staff also gave the chairman a heads up on the broad strokes of the so-called “whistleblower’s” complaint.
On top of all of these disasters, Democrats are staring down the barrel of bad polling that impeachment could hand Republicans back the House.
