Adam Schiff has become the face of the Democrats’ outrageous impeachment investigation.
He needs impeachment to be a popular success or else his career will go up in smoke.
But William Barr is working on an investigation that could bring impeachment crashing down.
The Democrats already had one unsuccessful attack on President Trump.
The Mueller report was a hit piece that failed to uncover any actual wrongdoing by the President.
But the Mueller report may be worse than a political hit job, the Department of Justice has turned the investigation of the origins of the Mueller report into a criminal probe.
This is scaring Adam Schiff because if the Russian investigation was illegal, the American people are going to become very suspicious of Schiff’s secret investigation that he is carrying out in the House basement.
That’s why Adam Schiff is already playing defense and saying that he’s going to reject the results of Barr’s investigation before he even knows what those results will be.
“You can assign good people to do an illegitimate investigation,” Schiff told ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.”
“If these reports are correct and Bill Barr’s Justice Department is doing a criminal investigation of people who properly looked into Russian interference in our election … it means that Bill Barr on the president’s behalf is weaponizing the Justice Department to go after the president’s enemies,” Schiff said.
Later in the program Stephanopoulos reminded Schiff that Durham “is a very well-respected prosecutor,” but this didn’t make any difference to Schiff who argued that there needs to be a “public explanation for why this needs to be a criminal probe.”
Schiff went on to add, “You can assign good people to do an illegitimate investigation. You can assign good people to investigate the president’s political rivals. It doesn’t mean that the investigation is any less tainted. This is tainted because of the motivation which is a political one to serve the president’s political interests.”
So Adam Schiff is saying that it’s not okay for Trump to investigate if the source of the Russian investigation was a political attack because it could harm Democrats.
Does he think it was wrong for Obama to spy on Trump’s campaign because it served the former president’s political interests?
If investigating political opponents isn’t right, what right does he have to be leading an impeachment investigation against Trump?
There is no logic to what he’s saying.
He wants a double standard where Democrats can conduct all the investigations that they want and Republicans aren’t allowed to make sure that justice is being carried out.
This is horribly unfair.
There should be one standard of justice for both Republicans and Democrats.
