Joe Biden entered the Presidential contest as the presumed Democrat Party frontrunner.
But all the talk of Biden walking into the White House just came to a screeching halt.
That’s because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said the five words that ended Joe Biden’s career.
Biden is trying to navigate the far-left ideological currents that dominate the Democrat Party while still maintaining a General Election appeal.
The former Vice President appeared to lose that tug of war when an aide leaked to Reuters that Biden was seeking a middle ground on so-called “climate change” by backing radical leftist policies—but also throwing a bone to blue-collar workers by backing nuclear power.
Reuters exclusively reported:
The backbone of the policy will likely include the United States re-joining the Paris Climate Agreement and preserving U.S. regulations on emissions and vehicle fuel efficiency that Trump has sought to undo, according to one of the sources, Heather Zichal, who is part of a team advising Biden on climate change. She previously advised President Barack Obama.
The second source, a former energy department official advising Biden’s campaign who asked not to be named, said the policy could also be supportive of nuclear energy and fossil fuel options like natural gas and carbon capture technology, which limit emissions from coal plants and other industrial facilities.
This did not sit well with Ocasio-Cortez – the socialist firebrand who authored the “Green New Deal.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s Soviet-style scheme claimed to combat climate change by banning cow farts, hamburgers, fossil-fuel powered cars, and airplane travel.
The 29-year-old former bartender wants nothing less than completely revamping American life into a Venezuelan-style socialist state, so she’s in no mood to back a candidate seeking “middle ground.”
Ocasio-Cortez ripped Biden’s plan claiming, “This is a deal breaker.”
“This is a dealbreaker. There is no “middle ground” w/ climate denial & delay. Blaming “blue collar” Americans as the main opponents to bold climate policy is gas lobbyist 101. We’re not going to solve the climate crisis w/ this lack of leadership. Our kids’ lives are at stake,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
Biden sensed danger and tried to appease his liberal critics like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during a campaign stop in New Hampshire.
The former Vice President cited the fact that he introduced the first so-called “climate change” bill in the Senate during the 1980s as evidence of his commitment to this leftist cause.
“I said, we have an existential threat, we are in a situation where, if we don’t act quickly, we’re going to basically lose almost everything we have,” Biden told the crowd.
“And that’s exactly the case. It’s even more urgent now.”
Outside of Barack Obama, there may be no more a coveted endorsement in the Democrat Party than that of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The New York Congresswoman is the left-wing base’s avatar in Congress.
Biden already whiffed on getting Obama’s endorsement when he entered the race.
So if Ocasio-Cortez comes out against him, it could be game over for Biden.
