Democrats are beginning to ask some serious questions.
They pertain to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
And that’s because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had bad news for Democrats with one jaw-dropping statement.
Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sat silent for days as thousands of Cubans marched in the streets chanting for freedom.
The Cuban people revolted against Marxism and socialists like Ocasio-Cortez did not know how to handle one country that implemented their ideology collapsing.
Ocasio-Cortez finally released a statement where Ocasio-Cortez paid lip service to the Cuban people’s calls for liberty.
But the thrust of Ocasio-Cortez’s comments focused on blaming Donald Trump and the embargo – and not communism – for Cuba’s disastrous economic conditions.
“We stand in solidarity with the Cuban people and condemn the suppression of the media, speech and protest,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “We also call for an end to the U.S. embargo and additional Trump-era restrictions that are profoundly contributing to the suffering of Cubans.”
In the statement Ocasio-Cortez wrote two sentences defending the protestors and four sentences attacking America and blaming American policy for Cuba’s decrepit state.
“We are seeing Cubans rise up and protest for their rights like never before. We stand in solidarity with them, and we condemn the anti-democratic actions led by President Diaz-Canel,” Ocasio-Cortez began.
“We also must name the U.S. contribution to Cuban suffering: our sixty-year-old embargo,” Ocasio-Cortez added.
“The embargo is absurdly cruel and, like too many other U.S. policies targeting Latin Americans, the cruelty is the point,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “I outright reject the Biden administration’s defense of the embargo. It is never acceptable for us to use cruelty as a point of leverage against everyday people.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s comments unnerved Democrats.
Donald Trump scored historic gains in traditionally Democratic South Florida enroute to winning the Sunshine State by the largest margin of any candidate since George W. Bush in 2004.
Cubans and other Hispanic voters in South Florida from countries like Venezuela and Colombia flocked to Trump’s message that America would never be a socialist nation.
Socialists like Ocasio-Cortez assuming the role as the face of the future of the Democrat Party made that an easy sell for Trump.
Democrats worry if Biden and the Democrats mishandle these protests, it could put Florida and its 29 Electoral College votes permanently out of reach.
That is why former Florida Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell tried to perform some triage by blasting Ocasio-Cortez for falsely blaming the United States embargo.
Mucarsel-Powell correctly blamed Marxism and a murderous communist government for destroying the Cuban nation and causing the protests.
“No. This is not correct. It’s the failed policies of a communist regime that has violated human rights, imprisoned & killed dissidents. Cuban ppl -young & old- are risking their lives to rise up, we must listen to them. This is a matter of national security. The US must act,” Mucarsel-Powell tweeted.
