Democrats made one final push to derail Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court nomination.
And they reached into the same bag of dirty tricks they employed during Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
Now Amy Coney Barrett faced one question to set her up for this criminal charge.
Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono is one of the most diabolical and downright mean-spirited Democrats in Washington.
Hirono sits on the Judiciary Committee and gladly played the role of attack dog in the Brett Kavanaugh smear campaign.
When it was her turn to question Barrett, Hirono asked Barrett if she raped or sexually assaulted anyone.
“Judge Barrett, Chief Justice John Roberts has recognized that, and I quote him, ‘The judicial branch is not immune’ from the widespread problem of sexual harassment and assault and has taken steps to address this in the judiciary,” Hirono prefaced her remarks by stating.
“I ask each nominee these two questions and I will ask them of you. Since you became a legal adult, have you ever made unwanted requests for sexual favors or committed any verbal or physical harassment or assault of a sexual nature?” Hirono asked.
“No, Senator Hirono,” Barrett responded.
“Have you ever faced discipline or entered into a settlement related to this kind of conduct?” Hirono followed up.
“No, Senator,” Barrett answered.
Rush Limbaugh smelled a rat.
During his radio broadcast, Limbaugh wondered if Hirono’s questioning was a setup to charge that Barrett lied to Congress by producing a last-minute accuser to lie about Barrett the way multiple women falsely claimed Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted them.
“Do you think that they could dangle enough money in front of one, or do you think they could otherwise appeal to the patriotism of another student? By that I mean appeal to a student who thinks that this woman would be an outright disaster as a justice on the court. Remember, doesn’t have to be true. Doesn’t have to be substantive. Just has to be enough to convince the Republicans to stop the hearings and to conduct a new investigation. It would be outrageous. You’d be asking, why didn’t any of this come up three years ago?” Limbaugh wondered.
Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation hearings wrapped up without Democrats laying a glove on her.
The only chance to stop Amy Coney Barrett from taking her place on the Supreme Court is a last minute desperation smear campaign like the one employed against Brett Kavanaugh.
That effort failed.
But many conservatives suspect that was exactly what Mazie Hirono was up to when she asked Amy Coney Barrett bizarre questions about if she ever raped or sexually assaulted anyone.
