But an insider is now spilling the beans.
And this MSNBC host admitted the network hid a terrible truth about Hillary Clinton.
Krystal Ball is the current co-host of the popular “Breaking Points” podcast.
But from 2012 to 2015 Ball hosted “The Cycle” on MSNBC.
“The Cycle” was MSNBC’s version of Fox News Channel’s popular show “The Five” where a group of left-wing co-hosts would sit around a table and gab about the issues of the day.
In an interview on Joe Rogan’s podcast Ball described how MSNBC brass were furious about a 2015 broadcast when Ball delivered a monologue imploring Hillary Clinton not to run for president in 2016 based on the fact that Clinton was a bought-and-paid-for creature of Wall Street and the D.C. establishment.
“I did this whole thing that was like, ‘She sold out to Wall Street. People are gonna hate this lady. She’s like the terrible candidate for the moment. Please don’t run,’” Ball told Rogan.
Ball said MSNBC didn’t yank her off the air on the spot or cut to a commercial when she delivered her scorching-hot anti-Hillary take.
“I was allowed to say it,” Ball added. “I deliver my thing. I did it exactly how I wanted to do it.”
But Ball described getting pulled into the principal’s office following the show and having producers inform her that any future Hillary Clinton commentary needed the personal approval of former MSNBC President Phil Griffin.
“Afterwards, I get pulled into an office and you know, ‘Great monologue, everything’s fine. But next time you do any commentary on Hillary Clinton, it has to get approved by the President of the network,’” Ball added.
Ball explained that after her talking to she trimmed her sails on attacking Hillary Clinton — even if it was from the left — because cable news TV contracts pay a lot of money and Ball could not afford to lose the gig.
“Listen, I’m a human being,” Ball continued. “I’m sure I responded to the incentives of that system, like, ‘God, I don’t want to get in trouble with the boss.’”
Ball told Rogan that in the cable news business hosts at places like MSNBC get — and keep — their jobs based on their ability to stick to the party-line script while on the air.
“That’s the way that it works [in cable news],” Ball stated. “Oftentimes, people [who work at the network] know where the boundaries are. They know what they’re allowed to say. So they don’t need that direct intervention of censorship.”
The irony of the 2016 campaign was Ball was correct.
Bernie Sanders fought Clinton all the way to the convention because the Democrat Party distrusted Clinton for her myriad scandals which included the clear influence peddling of accepting foreign government donations to the Clinton Foundation.
Donald Trump capitalized on voter disgust with the establishment — of which Hillary Clinton was a card-carrying member — by running a campaign on restoring fair trade, putting a stop to endless wars, and building a border wall.
Had Democrats heeded Ball’s warning and ditched Hillary for another candidate the party may have fared better in the 2016 election.
