Barack Obama despises Donald Trump.
He can’t stand to see the success Trump has had in office after his corrosive eight years.
And Barack Obama lost it when he saw how Trump handed him a humiliating defeat.
The Democrats thought they had 2016 in the bag.
Obama’s destructive two terms would be followed by eight years of the heir apparent Hillary Clinton.
But Donald Trump took a wrecking ball to the political establishment.
That had significant ramifications for the Democrats’ succession plan.
One bit of presidential business that Obama left for Clinton was to appoint federal judges.
Obama appointed many activist judges who are still doing damage today, but his unpopular policies led to the Republicans reclaiming the Senate, which put a stop to Obama packing the courts with wild leftists.
Instead of compromising, Obama planned for Clinton to pick up the ball and cram through more leftist judges, but that failed.
As a result, Obama left a ton of federal judgeships open.
Trump hilariously pointed that out during a rally in Kentucky.
“So, President Obama left Mitch, and me, and Rand, and all of us, he left 142 openings for judges,” Trump remarked to the crowd. “You’re not supposed to allow any, you don’t do that. You know, they say the most important thing that a president can do is federal judges, including the Supreme Court, obviously.”
Democrats used a lot of their political capital on judges to sink the nomination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, but the move failed.
Trump continued, “And I came in and I said ‘how many do we have?’ And they said ‘how many what, sir?’ I said ‘judge openings.’ And I thought they would say none, or one, or two. They said ‘Sir, we have 142.’ I said ‘what?’ I said ‘tell me again.’ They said 142.”
Leaving 142 openings is stunning.
It speaks to the hubris of Obama and the left.
Their succession planned failed, and Trump has had a bonanza in appointing judges.
“So Mitch, and I, and Rand would like to thank very much President Obama because nobody has ever been so generous in their life,” Trump said.
The last barb has to sting for Obama.
His coalition failed to materialize for Clinton, and his legacy is taking a severe hit as a result.
Trump is undoing a lot of the damage committed by Obama’s administration.
The appointment of federal judges is of grave importance.
They preside over the significant cases that determine our freedom, and sometimes reach the Supreme Court.
Long ago, Democrats realized they could impose their policies by judicial fiat if they couldn’t get them passed legislatively.
That’s why federal and Supreme Court judges are so vital.
Judges who will uphold the Constitution instead of treating it like a living document that should be rewritten by liberal elites are what ensure our rights aren’t being trampled over.
Of all of Trump’s accomplishments in office, his slew of federal judge appointments might be the most significant, and he has Barack Obama to thank for that.
And at his rally in Kentucky, he did.
