Barack Obama has had to stand on the sidelines for years and watch Trump erase his legacy piece by piece.
Now a top Obama administration official just jumped ship to work for Trump.
And Obama is reeling from this appointment he never saw coming.
No one was more angry about President Trump’s upset defeat of Hillary Clinton in 2016 than Barack Obama.
The outgoing president had to watch Trump take his office, and then systematically destroy everything Obama had done the past eight years.
Now, much of Obama’s legacy has been reduced to dust, and even more is getting ready to be wiped out.
Even former Obama administration officials are joining in too, including his former Border Patrol chief who was just nominated to lead ICE by the Trump administration.
The Daily Caller has the story, “President Donald Trump announced Sunday that he will nominate Mark Morgan, an Obama-era Border Patrol chief, to be the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“Morgan is a former FBI agent who served as the Border Patrol chief for the final months of the Obama administration, but he was removed when Trump took office. Morgan went on to be a vocal supporter of Trump’s border wall and his national emergency declaration.”
This is a devastating betrayal for Obama that he never saw coming.
His own former administration officials have abandoned him to support President Trump.
And on the question of securing America’s border with Mexico nonetheless.
Obama couldn’t have asked for a worse fate for his time in office as president.
“I am pleased to inform all of those that believe in a strong, fair and sound Immigration Policy that Mark Morgan will be joining the Trump administration as the head of our hard working men and women of ICE,” Trump tweeted Sunday. “Mark is a true believer and American Patriot. He will do a great job!”
Trump has worked to make immigration one of his top issues in the 2020 campaign for the White House.
Immigration is what drove him to win the Republican party nomination in 2016 and ultimately defeat Hillary Clinton, and it could give him a victory again next year.
And as part of that plan, Trump has worked to highlight America’s broken immigration system and the need for strong and secure borders.
By bringing Morgan onboard to run ICE, Trump is signaling that he’s prepared to do everything in his power to get his campaign promise to build a wall completed.
And Morgan is completely onboard with the President’s plan to secure the border and end illegal immigration.
He’s been calling for border security since his time working under Obama, and he since endorsed much of Trump’s immigration proposals after he took office in 2017.
“Morgan will likely serve as a strict implementer of Trump’s policy agenda, as he has repeatedly called the situation at the southern border a crisis and has slammed Democrats for their opposition to the border wall,” adds the Daily Caller.
