And that’s because Bill Clinton signed one document that landed Joe Biden in deep trouble at the Supreme Court.
Joe Biden faced another rough day in front of the Supreme Court.
Louisiana and Texas sued the Biden administration over a 2021 memo from Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that recommended federal authorities ignore the 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act – signed into law by Bill Clinton – which required the government to deport illegal aliens convicted of a prescribed list of crimes.
Chief Justice John Roberts appeared receptive to the arguments made by Louisiana and Texas that the Biden administration could not pick and choose when to enforce federal immigration law.
“Shall means shall,” Roberts declared when questioning the Biden administration Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar.
“Shouldn’t we just say what we think the law is,” Roberts added.
Texas District Court Judge Drew Tipton previously blocked the Biden administration from treating a law requiring the government to deport criminal illegal aliens like a suggestion.
“Using the words ‘discretion’ and ‘prioritization’ the Executive Branch claims the authority to suspend statutory mandates,” Judge Tipton ruled. “The law does not sanction this approach.”
America First Legal chief Stephen Miller blasted the Biden administration for worsening the border crisis by continually creating new magnets to attract floods of illegal aliens.
“What this president has done is he has turned Congress into a mere suggestion box,” Miller told Fox News.
More than 230,000 illegal aliens crossed the border in October and nearly 5 million illegal aliens attempted to invade the country since Joe Biden took office.
Miller laid the blame for this border crisis at Joe Biden’s feet.
“The entire Immigration and Nationality Act, which governs who can enter our country, how you apply for a visa, what rules you have to comply with, where you have to apply from — that entire system has been rubbished and trashed by this president as though he were an emperor. And so, it is completely impeachable,” Miller added.
Miller crowed that America First Legal joined in a number of successful lawsuits that chipped away at Joe Biden’s open borders agenda.
“My organization has been involved in a number of lawsuits against his policies, and in each of those lawsuits, we lay out how he has violated the clear command of Congress and the clear command of the Constitution,” Miller continued.
Democrats controlling Congress for the first two years meant there wasn’t a legislative and funding check on Joe Biden’s ability to throw open the southern border to a mass invasion of illegal aliens.
Fortunately America still has a functioning judicial system that is willing to check Joe Biden’s lawless actions.
