Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi spent two years plotting against Donald Trump.
They led the Democrats in an unprecedented obstruction and smear campaign against the President.
But then Chuck Schumer admitted one thing about Donald Trump that no one thought they would ever hear.
During Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign, his rhetoric on trade with China set him apart from the rest of the field.
Trump railed against the past Presidents who had negotiated sweetheart trade deals with the Chinese that served to benefit Beijing at the expense of the American worker.
Globalist Republicans like Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, and John McCain recoiled in horror.
But this rhetoric won over the working class voters who had not voted GOP in a generation, if they ever did at all.
Trump’s promise to bring back American industry and level the playing field on trade with China proved critical to his victory.
Every election, Republicans have dreamed of winning Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
But for over a generation, that wish proved out of reach until Donald Trump shockingly carried those states.
After Trump took office, globalists tried to scare him off from cracking down on the Chinese by claiming a “trade war” would roil the markets and tank the economy.
China figured those voices would prevail like they had in previous administrations and began to balk at making concessions in trade talks with the United States.
In fact, Trump officials told reporters the Chinese were even going back on concessions they had already agreed to.
But President Trump showed the Chinese it was a new day.
The President responded to the Chinese hardballing with a brushback pitch of his own and announced tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods.
President Trump tweeted:
For 10 months, China has been paying Tariffs to the USA of 25% on 50 Billion Dollars of High Tech, and 10% on 200 Billion Dollars of other goods. These payments are partially responsible for our great economic results. The 10% will go up to 25% on Friday. 325 Billions Dollars…
… of additional goods sent to us by China remain untaxed, but will be shortly, at a rate of 25%. The Tariffs paid to the USA have had little impact on product cost, mostly borne by China. The Trade Deal with China continues, but too slowly, as they attempt to renegotiate. No!
Surprisingly, even Chuck Schumer supported President Trump’s tough stance on China.
Schumer wrote, “Hang tough on China, President @realDonaldTrump. Don’t back down. Strength is the only way to win with China.”
The naysayers in the fake news media claim Trump’s trade war is a disaster.
But the administration knows it holds all the cards.
“We have leverage. They have more to lose. It’s simple math. They cannot lose access to the U.S. consumer,” a senior administration official told Politico’s Ben White.
