Donald Trump made a major announcement about a victory that had the Democrats scrambling.
But Chuck Schumer made a big mistake by responding with this huge lie that instantly blew up in his face.
Donald Trump shook up the immigration debate in America by threatening to impose five percent tariffs on all goods from Mexico unless Mexico took stronger action to stem the tide of illegal aliens marching through the country on their way to invading the United States.
The chattering class in the Washington swamp set off a five-alarm panic over this move.
Elites in D.C. love “free” trade and mass migration because it drives down the wages of American workers.
President Trump promised to correct these abuses of United States citizens.
Trump eventually reached his breaking point when the government reported arresting 144,000 illegal aliens attempting to invade the country in May.
So he issued his tariff threat.
And despite the fake news reporters – as well as RINO Republicans and Democrats – predicting economic doom, the President knew it was Mexico that had more to lose.
That’s why Mexico immediately dispatched top officials to the United States to hammer out an agreement.
On Saturday, President Trump announced Mexico would step-up border enforcement and expand the “remain in Mexico” policy, which allows Mexico to house asylum seekers while they wait for their cases to be adjudicated, to the entire border.
President Trump announced that, “I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended. Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!”
Chuck Schumer could not stand the fact that Donald Trump secured a victory on one of his signature issues.
So Schumer countered on social media with a blizzard of lies.
“Just as I predicted, President @realDonaldTrump backed off on his threat of tariffs against Mexico,” Schumer began.
“He says that Mexico will take action to ‘greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States’, but if past is prologue, this is likely to be one of the president’s typical, bogus solutions to justify backing off things like the tariffs.”
This is false.
While it is true that Mexico previously agreed to take some of these steps, they never followed through.
President Trump’s threat of imposing tariffs on Mexico spurred its government to turn those promises into action.
Schumer could not stand that Donald Trump secured a victory for the American people.
And he flat-out lied about the President’s agreement knowing his allies in the fake news media would parrot his talking points as fact.
But no matter how many times the Democrats and so-called “journalists” repeat this lie, it cannot change the truth.
