Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is trying to push Democrats further to the left.
And the leadership knows she’s holding this threat over them.
And Chuck Schumer broke into panic over Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez removing him from office.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one of the most well-known politicians in America.
She’s currently the youngest representative in Congress, which was a huge step up from her career in bartending, but already she’s looking to move on to greater things.
Some on the left are already suggesting that she primary Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
“Just going to say something out loud that should be obvious: The fastest way to speed up the process of changing the corrupt, do-nothing, status-quo-protecting culture of the national Democratic Party is for @AOC to defeat @ChuckSchumer in a Democratic primary in 2022,” David Sirota, a senior adviser to Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, recently said in a post on Twitter.
And Ocasio-Cortez is doing nothing to quell these rumors.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, she hinted that she wants to move on to bigger positions despite the fact that she is still unqualified for her current job.
She doesn’t “know if I’m really going to be staying in the House forever, or if I do stay in the House, what that would look like.”
“I don’t see myself really staying where I’m at for the rest of my life,” she added.
Ocasio-Cortez’s mission is to push the party as far left as possible and that’s why she wants power.
“I don’t want to aspire to a quote-unquote higher position just for the sake of that title or just for the sake of having a different or higher position. I truly make an assessment to see if I can be more effective. And so, you know, I don’t know if I could necessarily be more effective in an administration, but, for me that’s always what the question comes down to,” said the New York Congresswoman.
While Ocasio-Cortez has been mocked for her radical ideas, she’s gotten so called “moderates” like Joe Biden to accept her positions.
Biden has embraced key parts of Ocasio-Cortez’s agenda, including parts of her Green New Deal plan.
“I would transition from the oil industry, yes,” Biden said during the debate. “It’s a big statement because the oil industry pollutes significantly. … It has to be replaced by renewable energy over time.”
Democrats are terrified that if they alienate radical voters, they will lose elections.
But the radical wing of the Democrat Party is pretty openly communist, which is a repressive and evil system.
Chuck Schumer and the rest of the Democrats’ leadership need to stand up to the radicals in their own party before it is too late.
