And now CNN crossed a huge line that could destroy Clarence Thomas’ career.
Former Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid died from pancreatic cancer.
One of Reid’s political legacies was his decision to nuke the filibuster for judicial nominations.
That allowed Donald Trump and the Republican Senate to confirm Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.
The six to three Republican appointee majority now may strike down Roe v. Wade this summer.
In Reid’s later years he promoted the dangerous scheme to eliminate the legislative filibuster entirely.
After Reid’s passing, CNN entertainer Jim Acosta interviewed New York Congresswoman Elizabeth Holtzman and wasted no time politicizing Reid’s death to call on Democrats to abolish the filibuster.
“Congresswoman, let me ask you about something Harry Reid told me just before his passing in interviews this year. He said it’s time to get rid of the filibuster,” Acosta stated. “He did issue a cautionary warning about expanding the Supreme Court, so he was an institutionalist in many ways. But as somebody who, you know, practiced the art of the filibuster and so on as a Senate leader, at the end of his life, he was warning the country that this is standing in the way of important progress.”
Holtzman quickly agreed with the idea of nuking the 60-vote threshold to end debate and ram bills through the Senate on a simple majority vote.
“Well, he was right about that,” Holtzman stated.
Holtzman quickly cited the Supreme Court as a reason to abolish the filibuster.
“His warning about the Supreme Court, well, we’ll see what happens with that, but the filibuster right now is standing in the way as he said of something that is really vital, namely the right of every American to vote and have his or her vote counted. And nothing can be more basic than that,” Holtzman added. “And if some rule in the Senate stands in the way of getting that, making sure that every American has the right to vote and that vote counted, then we got to change that rule.”
Should the Supreme Court strike down Roe v. Wade, CNN and other left-wing activists will turn the screws on Democrats to wipe out the filibuster so Democrats can pass legislation to pack the Supreme Court.
Packing the Supreme Court would co-sign Clarence Thomas and his fellow Republican-appointed justices to a permanent minority for the rest of their careers.
For the last five years Democrats and their allies in the media screamed about protecting norms, democracy and civility.
That all went out the window as soon as the left won power in the 2020 election and now the media eggs on the Democrats to destroy the democratic norm of checks and balances and protecting minority rights because the left only believes in democracy as long as liberals rule.
