When Joe Biden ran against Donald Trump, Biden could count on no more reliable ally than CNN.
CNN operated as a rapid response communications team for Biden and the Democrat Party.
But now CNN turned on Joe Biden for one reason that no one saw coming.
Ever since the spring, CNN anchors, guests and reporters served as the most strident voices pushing for vaccine mandates.
CNN’s editorial position is that government should mandate every man, woman and child in America to take the coronavirus vaccine.
That’s why it was so surprising to see former Democrat Party campaign operative and current CNN host Jake Tapper take Biden to task for “scolding” the unvaccinated.
To the surprise of many, Tapper – who once worked for the anti-gun Brady Campaign – admitted resistance to the federal government mandating the vaccine was rooted in America’s tradition of distrusting big government.
“This is part of the American public, this is part of the ethos in this country. People don’t want big government telling them what to do,” Tapper stated.
Tapper also surprised CNN viewers by puncturing the myth on the left that the only vaccine hesitant people in America reside on the right and watch Fox News when Tapper singled out Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as one of the most prominent anti-vaccine voices in the country.
“I don’t think scolding is the approach. There are these purveyors of misinformation out there, and they’re not just on the right. Robert Kennedy Jr. is one of the most notorious ones. And I haven’t seen the president or anyone say, look, people, like, he’s scolding the people that are being lied to as opposed to the liars,” Tapper added.
In his speech, Biden took aim at the unvaccinated because his poll numbers fell after the debacle in Afghanistan and Biden felt that declaring war on the unvaccinated was the best chance to rally his base.
“My message to unvaccinated Americans is this: What more is there to wait for? What more do you need to see? We’ve made vaccinations free, safe, and convenient. The vaccine is FDA approved. Over 200 million Americans have gotten at least one shot. We’ve been patient but our patience is wearing thin and your refusal has cost all of us. So, please, do the right thing. But just don’t take it from me. Listen to the voices of unvaccinated Americans who are lying in hospital beds taking their final breath saying, ‘If only I had gotten vaccinated, if only.’ It’s a tragedy. Please don’t let it become yours,” Biden ranted in one of the most divisive speeches in presidential history.
Biden’s gambit did not work.
A new Quinnipiac poll taken entirely after Biden’s vaccine mandate speech showed Biden’s approval number sinking to 42 percent meaning that Tapper turning on Biden about the vaccine mandate actually spoke to a broader reality that Biden continued to bleed support from his coalition.
