The left has spent months claiming the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians to steal the 2016 election.
They have pushed this narrative with sensational headlines and illegal leaks of classified information.
Now one top Congressman just dropped a major bombshell about whether the allegations are true or not.
Devin Nunes is the House Intelligence Committee Chair.
As one of the “Gang of Eight” – the chair and ranking members of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees – he has access to all the intelligence gathered about Trump and Russia.
And he came out and stated once and for all that there is no evidence of collusion between Trump and Russian officials.
Politico reports:
“House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said Saturday there “was never any collusion between Donald Trump and the Russians,” casting himself as a victim of media bias and calling on Washington to “stop chasing Russian ghosts around the closet.”
The California Republican’s remarks came a day after Trump appeared to acknowledge he was under investigation for firing FBI Director James Comey, as special counsel Robert Mueller probes Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
Nunes, addressing GOP donors in Orange County, said that after searching for any evidence of collusion, “I said ‘OK, I don’t think there’s any collusion here.’ And what happened to me? All the major papers in the country did a total character assassination on me. Why? Because I was telling the truth, that there was never any collusion between Donald Trump and the Russians.”
Now, Nunes said, “I have to ask myself, Was this really an investigation in search of a crime? And I will tell you, if that’s what it ends up being, there will be a huge, huge division in this country.”
Everyone who has seen all the intelligence say there is no evidence of collusion.
This list includes former Obama intelligence officials John Brennan and James Clapper, as well as California Democrat Diane Feinstein.
Trump has also repeatedly called this investigation fake news and a hoax.
But despite intelligence community officials testifying under oath that they have not seen any evidence of collusion, and members of Congress denying the existence of evidence on the record, the media continues to plow ahead with this conspiracy theory.
For all the lip service journalists pay to “facts mattering” and their relentless pursuit for the truth, they abandon all standards when it comes to Trump.
Taking him down is their goal.
And the ends justify the means.
So even though the Russia story is fake news that has not produced any accusations or evidence of wrongdoing, it continues to dominate media coverage.
Newspapers and TV networks are casting their net far and wide to reel in any hint of scandal.
But they have come up empty.
