Democrats crossed an unthinkable line with a scheme to rig elections.
Republicans are furious.
And that’s because Democrats revealed this sick plan to give illegal aliens the right to vote.
Democrats in the Vermont state legislature passed legislation granting localities the ability to grant illegal aliens the right to vote in state and local elections.
Vermont’s Republican Governor Phil Scott vetoed the legislation.
In his veto message, Scott declared this legislation would create chaos in election administration.
“This is an important policy discussion that deserves further consideration and debate. Allowing a highly variable town-by-town approach to municipal voting creates inconsistency in election policy, as well as separate and unequal classes of residents potentially eligible to vote on local issues. I believe it is the role of the Legislature to establish clarity and consistency on this matter. This should include defining how municipalities determine which legal residents may vote on local issues, as well as specifying the local matters they may vote on. Returning these bills provides the opportunity to do this important work,” Scott wrote.
But Democrats in the legislature overrode Scott’s veto and illegal aliens will now have the right to vote in Vermont.
This type of legislation is horribly unpopular.
Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel described the findings of a poll conducted by Kellyanne Conway that found 88 percent of voters oppose giving illegal aliens the right to vote.
“[Americans] want to make sure that voting is easy and it’s accessible, but they also want to make sure that it’s legal and it’s transparent and that it’s verifiable. Why is the word verifiable important? Well, it’s important because is the voter-verified? Is the voter’s ID verified? Is the voter’s signature verified? This should not be a heavy lift. It should not be controversial that you want to make sure that the most sacrosanct principle in our United States Constitution, one person, one vote, is upheld for everyone. And there is tri-partisan agreement. The majority of Republicans, Democrats, and independents all agree that non-citizens should not vote. People who are not registered to vote or qualified to vote should not vote,” McDaniel said on her podcast.
But Democrats do not care.
Most of the real governing – passing gun control, defunding the police, and imposing critical race theory in education – happens at the local level.
Democrats can tilt elections in their favor by stacking the deck with illegal alien voters.
Localities that kept taxes low and maintained public safety by funding and respecting the police could soon see Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Bernie Sanders-type socialists calling the shots on city councils and the quality of life will plummet dramatically.
