Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats thought they scored a major victory over Donald Trump in the government shutdown fight.
Pelosi and her allies toasted to their success and were prepared to hop on a plane and jet out of Washington.
But then everything changed when Donald Trump ended Pelosi with this surprise letter.
Fake news reporters popped the champagne corks when Pelosi demanded the President re-schedule his January 29th State of the Union address.
Pelosi lied and claimed the address could not be given because Secret Service could not secure the capital due to the government shut down.
So-called “reporters” cheered this “power move.”

But 24 hours later, they were singing a different tune.
Just 30 minutes before Pelosi and a group of lawmakers were set to take off in a military plane for a photo-op in Afghanistan, Trump canceled their trip.
The President informed the Speaker via letter, stating, “Due to the Shutdown, I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed. We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate. I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington negotiating with me and joining the Strong Border Security movement to end the Shutdown. Obviously, if you would like to make your journey by flying commercial, that would certainly be your prerogative.”
The President also ordered Pelosi’s luggage to be dumped outside her office.

Now the same fake news reporters that praised Pelosi for trying to cancel Trump’s State of the Union address tut-tutted Trump responding in kind.
Democrats who thought Trump would roll over and die because Pelosi threw an elbow his way have not been paying attention the last four years.
If someone takes a swing at Trump, he hits back twice as a hard.
The fake news media – as well as many Never-Trump Republicans – sarcastically claim Trump supporters back him because “he fights,” but their arrogance and condescension misses the boat.
Past Republican Presidents and Congressional majorities have refused to fight for any principles.
If anything, they put up their biggest fight against conservative primary challengers to ensure that pro-amnesty Republicans who agree with the Democrats on everything win.
Trump retains the support of his base because, unlike swamp Republicans, Trump actually fights for the policies Republican voters care about.
So when Trump hit back at Pelosi after she tried to embarrass him by canceling the State of the Union, the President’s support only hardened.
And it’s beginning to dawn on some Democrats that if they want to end this stalemate, they are going to have to compromise.
Some freshmen Democrats from Trump districts have already stated they will support some wall funding.
Trump is in Washington waiting for the Democrats to come to the bargaining table.
The President’s answer to Pelosi’s State of the Union stunt proved that Democrats aren’t going to secure an easy victory in this fight.
Trump wants his wall and he’s willing to go to the mat for it.
Now it’s just a waiting game.
