Donald Trump is the ultimate political disruptor.
And since becoming President, he’s taken a sledgehammer to the mainstream media.
Now, Trump just tore into Fox News for their biased coverage against him with one explosive tweet.
President Trump has never been a fan of the mainstream media.
After they tried to destroy him in the 2016 election, most media outlets have remained overwhelmingly negative in their coverage of the President.
And he’s responded in turn by using other outlets such as Twitter to get his message out to the American people.
But even networks that once seemed friendly to Republican officeholders like Fox News are now earning the President’s wrath.
And this time, Trump didn’t hold back when he tore into Fox in a series of tweets earlier this week that are sure to raise eyebrows.
“Watching @FoxNews weekend anchors is worse than watching low ratings Fake News @CNN, or Lyin’ Brian Williams (remember when he totally fabricated a War Story trying to make himself into a hero, & got fired. A very dishonest journalist!) and the crew of degenerate……” the President tweeted on Sunday, slamming the station for their biased coverage.
The President continued, however.
“….Comcast (NBC/MSNBC) Trump haters, who do whatever Brian & Steve tell them to do. Like CNN, NBC is also way down in the ratings. But @FoxNews, who failed in getting the very BORING Dem debates, is now loading up with Democrats & even using Fake unsourced @nytimes as….
…a ‘source’ of information (ask the Times what they paid for the Boston Globe, & what they sold it for (lost 1.5 Billion Dollars), or their old headquarters building disaster, or their unfunded liability? @FoxNews is changing fast, but they forgot the people who got them there!”
The President’s three tweets raised eyebrows across the political spectrum and ended up getting a combined 210,000 retweets between all three.
Trump has been very vocal against the mainstream media in the past, including some notoriously biased outlets like CNN and MSNBC, but his latest confrontation with Fox News demonstrates just how much the entire industry has lost his faith.
Trump has few outlets he can rely on to present coverage of him in a fair and balanced manner.
Which is why he’s become one of the most prolific Presidents on Twitter.
Trump has realized he doesn’t need the mainstream media to get his message out there as past Presidents have.
He doesn’t need them for anything. With one tweet he can reach tens of millions of people.
And that’s a far greater reach than CNN or Fox News could ever have.
Trump’s presidency signals a new age in communication between elected officials and their constituents, and it also explains why mainstream media outlets have been so critical of the President as well.
In short, he’s taking away their business by circumventing them.
