Donald Trump thought impeachment was finally behind him after the Mueller report found no evidence of conspiracy with Russia and no determination on obstruction of justice.
But the President was wrong.
And Donald Trump feared the worst when he was smacked with a nasty surprise that will have him seeing red.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recently delivered remarks on the Senate floor saying that with the Mueller report finally released, it was time to put the Russian collusion hoax and the investigation behind everyone.
“The special counsel’s finding is clear: case closed,” McConnell said. “This ought to be good news for everyone but my Democratic colleagues seem to be publicly working through the five stages of grief.”
Unfortunately, Republican Senator Richard Burr of North Carolina – the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee did not get the memo.
Burr’s committee is still investigating the Russia hoax.
And Chairman Burr teamed up with the Trump-hating Democrats to issue an unthinkable subpoena to Donald Trump, Jr.
Trump Jr. already testified to House and Senate committees for nearly 30 hours under the assumption that it was a one-time deal.
Republicans were shocked that Burr would spit in the President’s face in such a manner.
And Trump, Jr. sent out signals that he has no intentions of allowing the Democrats and treasonous Republicans like Burr use him for a cheap stunt to attack his father.
Axios exclusively reported that a source close to Donald Trump, Jr. told them:
Don is a private citizen, who has already been cleared by Mueller after a two-year investigation. He has done 8-9 hours of testimony in front of Senate Intel already and 27 hours of testimony in front of various committees in total.
When he originally agreed to testify in front of the Senate Intel Committee in 2017, there was an agreement between Don and the Committee that he would only have to come in and testify a single time as long as he was willing to stay for as long as they’d like, which Don did.
Don continues to cooperate by producing documents and is willing to answer written questions, but no lawyer would ever agree to allow their client to participate in what is an obvious P.R. stunt.
Burr’s colleagues in the Senate and prominent House Republicans also ripped his outrageous decision to extend the Russia witch hunt.
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul tweeted, “Apparently the Republican chair of the Senate Intel Committee didn’t get the memo from the Majority Leader that this case was closed.”
Texas Senator Ted Cruz added, “The Russia investigation is over. After 2 years of Dem & media hysteria, after millions of dollars, after 2800 subpoenas, the Mueller Report found NO collusion. There’s no need for another subpoena for @DonaldJTrumpJr It’s time to move on & focus on issues Americans care about.”
Even House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy questioned Burr’s decision.
“DonaldJTrumpJr has already spent dozens of hours testifying in front of Congressional committees. Endless investigations—by either party—won’t change the fact that there was NO collusion. It’s time to move on. It’s time to focus on ISSUES, not investigations,” McCarthy tweeted.
