Mike Pence claims he still has a cordial relationship with Donald Trump.
But behind the scenes Pence plotted a major move against Trump.
Donald Trump was left speechless at Mike Pence’s final betrayal.
A Grinnell College poll shows Donald Trump leading Joe Biden by 17 points with independent voters in a 2024 matchup.
Every poll shows Joe Biden’s approval rating plummeting as cascading failures caused by Biden’s policies on the border, with runaway inflation and supply chain shortages, convinced the American people Biden’s presidency flopped.
And every poll of GOP primary voters showed Donald Trump far out in front of the pack in a GOP primary.
That series of events increased the likelihood that Donald Trump would announce a 2024 presidential campaign after next year’s midterm elections.
Axios reports:
Former President Trump is telling most anyone who’ll listen he will run again in 2024 — and poll after poll shows the vast majority of Republicans would gladly cheer him on and vote for him…
… It’s not just idle chatter. Trump is spending much of his time thinking about politics, holding calls with his political team and surveying polling.
If Donald Trump announces a 2024 campaign many expect potential contenders such as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to take a pass on the race.
But there is one big name that looks to be setting the stage for challenging Trump.
And it is the last person anyone would have expected – former Vice President Mike Pence.
Axios reports:
What we’re hearing: Trump’s most likely opponent is Pence, who — I’m told — has no plans to defer to his former boss…
…Trumpworld is more uncertain about Pence, who has been quiet about his intentions but maintains a strong and loyal team around him.
Nikki Haley— the former U.N. ambassador and South Carolina governor, who’s often talked of as a potential 2024 candidate — has explicitly said she wouldn’t challenge Trump.
Pence has notably not made any such declaration.
For four years the corporate media mocked Mike Pence for his supposedly “servile” obedience to President Trump.
So-called “reporters” acted like Pence was the first vice president ever to praise and defend the president they served.
Kamala Harris enthusiastically pretends Joe Biden is an active human being with a fully functioning brain instead of the declining, senile dullard Biden regularly appears as in public.
Mike Pence clearly wants to run for president.
And Pence looks like he will not defer to Donald Trump.
Pence and Trump running in the same election would set a historical first as the only time in American history a former vice president challenged his boss in a primary.
In such a race, Pence would start with some Never Trump and establishment support from donor class Republicans that want to go back to the Bush/McCain/Romney era of supporting open borders, trade deals that shipped working-class jobs overseas and endless foreign wars in the Middle East.
Trump would command the support of the grassroots and the new multi-ethnic coalition of working-class voters that migrated to the GOP in the last election.
And while Trump would enter the race a heavy favorite to win, it would still be historic.
