Donald Trump was not happy.
Members of the corporate media jumped for joy.
And Donald Trump was not happy when one close ally told everyone this secret.
Former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows released a new book, “The Chief’s Chief,” where Meadows described how Donald Trump actually tested positive for the coronavirus before the first presidential debate with Joe Biden.
The debate rules stipulated that both Trump and Biden had to submit a negative test before appearing.
As Trump was set to leave for a campaign trip to Pennsylvania, Meadows recounted that a White House doctor called and insisted Trump not go on the trip.
Trump was already aboard Air Force One with the plane in the air so Meadows’ only choice was to call Trump with the news, which obviously upset the president.
The Guardian reports:
“Stop the president from leaving,” Meadows says Sean Conley told him. “He just tested positive for Covid.”
It wasn’t possible to stop Trump but when he called from Air Force One, his chief of staff gave him the news.
“Mr. President,” Meadows said, “I’ve got some bad news. You’ve tested positive for Covid-19.”
Trump’s reply, the devout Christian writes, “rhyme[d] with ‘Oh spit, you’ve gotta be trucking lidding me’”.
Meadows and other Trump officials believed an out-of-date version of the coronavirus test produced a false positive.
Instead, Meadows wrote that White House officials had Trump use a newer model test which produced a negative result.
The Guardian also reports:
Meadows says the positive test had been done with an old model kit. He told Trump the test would be repeated with “the Binax system, and that we were hoping the first test was a false positive”.
After “a brief but tense wait”, Meadows called back with news of the negative test. He could “almost hear the collective ‘Thank God’ that echoed through the cabin”, he writes.
On October 2 after the debate, Trump did test positive for the coronavirus.
Trump blasted Meadows’ claim that he tested positive for the coronavirus before the debate as “fake news.”
“The story of me having COVID prior to, or during, the first debate is Fake News. In fact, a test revealed that I did not have COVID prior to the debate,” Trump’s statement read.
The corporate media jumped onto this story to falsely claim Trump was a liar and nearly killed Joe Biden when the two appeared on stage for the first presidential debate.
Trump complied with the rules of the debate by testing negative before the debate.
Donald Trump and some of his allies were shocked that Meadows would reveal such a thing in his book.
