Democrats believe they have a path to hanging on to control of the Senate next November.
But liberals got some bad news.
And Dr. Oz had one phone call with Donald Trump that crushed Democrats’ hopes worse than you think.
Celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz jumped into the Pennsylvania Senate race to replace anti-gun and Never Trumper Pat Toomey.
Dr. Oz brings massive name recognition and a reported $100 million fortune from years as Oprah Winfrey’s medical expert and syndicated TV host.
After Trump’s preferred candidate Sean Parnell withdrew from the race following what many saw as a politically motivated decision by a judge to award sole custody of his children to his ex-wife, Dr. Oz held a phone call with Trump about gauging Trump’s interest in an endorsement.
“Mr. Trump talked to Mr. Oz by phone the day Mr. Parnell dropped out and met with Mr. McCormick the day after, according to a person familiar with the discussions. The conversations signal Trump’s strong interest in the Pennsylvania race, but there is no plan to move quickly on a new endorsement, the person said,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
In private however, Donald Trump’s praised Dr. Oz and compared Dr. Oz building massive name recognition and a brand on his syndicated TV show to how “The Apprentice” served as a launch point for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential campaign.
POLITICO reports:
“Meanwhile, Trump has been complimentary of MEHMET OZ, telling confidantes that he believes the TV doc has a chance in the Pennsylvania Senate GOP primary — mainly because he’s a lot like him. Trump ‘likes the fact that [Oz is] in the mainstream of America and that he had a ton of face time with voters, similar to ‘The Apprentice,’ that he’s omnipresent in people’s houses through their television.’”
When Dr. Oz launched his campaign Dr. Oz framed his run for office as a chance to restore normalcy and sanity to America by rejecting Dr. Fauci’s lockdowns and mandates that stole freedom, killed jobs and did nothing to slow the spread of the coronavirus across America.
“We lost too many lives, too many jobs and too many opportunities because Washington got it wrong,” Dr. Oz said in his announcement video. “They took away our freedom without making us safer and tried to kill our spirit and our dignity.”
Whichever party wins the Pennsylvania Senate race is likely to hold control of the chamber.
After Parnell dropped out, Dr. Oz announcing his candidacy shook up the race as a major celebrity Trump supporter is now in the field.
The biggest question looming over the race is which candidate Donald Trump will endorse in the Republican primary.
