Democrats seem to always think they’re smarter than they actually are.
When faced with a Republican in debate, they are often left squirming.
And when one Democrat tried to stump Jeff Sessions, she immediately regretted it after everyone started laughing at her.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) thought she had the perfect question to anger Attorney General Jeff Sessions during a House Judiciary Hearing.
So she got onto the microphone and asked him if he stood by his previous testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Jackson Lee was forced to repeat her awkward question multiple times.
But once Sessions finally understood what she was asking, he attempted to answer the question.
As soon as he opened his mouth, not even completing a sentence, Jackson Lee attempted to change the subject and claim to know what Sessions was going to say.
With the help of Chairman Bob Goodlatte, Jackson Lee was silenced, and Sessions was able to answer the question.
As reported by The Daily Caller:
“Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee was silenced during Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ Tuesday testimony when she refused to let him answer a question.
During a House Judiciary Hearing with Sessions, Jackson Lee asked the AG if he stood by his previous testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee. The Democratic lawmaker’s awkwardly phrased and roundabout question required Sessions to ask her to repeat it several times.
When Sessions was finally able to answer the question, Jackson Lee angrily cut him off again and refused to let him answer.
“Let me say this, Mr. Chairman,” Sessions said before Jackson Lee jumped in.
“Let me move to a document I have prepared,” she started as Chairman Bob Goodlatte tried to regain control of the hearing. “The gentleman keeps saying he he cannot recall, cannot recall, so I’m reclaiming my time.”
“The gentlewoman will suspend, the witness will answer the question!” Chairman Goodlatte exclaimed.”
During the situation, people in the crowd could be seen laughing at Rep. Lee, who nothing more than made a complete fool of herself.
When Sessions did get to answer the question, he did so much more respectfully than many would have under the circumstances.
This isn’t the first time that Rep. Jackson Lee has embarrassed herself on the floor of the House.
Recently she made headlines by kneeling on the House floor in solidarity with the NFL National Anthem kneelers.
She also, while serving on the House Science Committee, stood by claims that Neil Armstrong walked not on the moon, but on Mars.
In 1997, while on a trip to the Mars Pathfinder operations center, she asked if the Pathfinder would be taking a picture of the flag Armstrong planted on Mars in 1969.
With this sort of a history of stupidity, it might be best for Rep. Jackson Lee to not try to get into fights with Republicans.
