Fox News Channel made a major announcement.
There was yet another shift in programming.
Fox News hired a new host that signaled this one big change at the network.
Former Trump press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and Fox News experienced a bumpy courtship.
Fox announced it broke off negotiations for McEnany to join the network after the January 6 riot at the Capitol.
Weeks later, Fox News announced that McEnany officially joined the network as an on-air contributor.
But that was not the end of McEnany’s trajectory at Fox.
After several weeks’ worth of appearances on shows like Hannity, McEnany announced on social media that she would be joining the popular show “Outnumbered” as a co-host.
“I am honored to be joining @OutnumberedFNC, @FoxNews as a co-host! I will be alongside founding anchor & talented journalist @HARRISFAULKNER and @EmilyCompagno, a truly great legal mind,” McEnany wrote.
In a network statement announcing McEnany’s new hosting role, Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott praised McEnany’s background in law, politics and women’s issues which qualifies her to bring a unique perspective to the show and Fox News.
“Kayleigh’s unique background in politics and law coupled with her experiences confronting women’s health challenges and life as a new mom will add robust insight to Outnumbered — we are delighted to welcome her back to FOX News where she began her media career,” Scott stated.
McEnany expressed her excitement for the new assignment.
“I am thrilled to join the incredible women of Outnumbered and look forward to working alongside the talented Harris Faulkner and Emily Compagno as we discuss the top issues impacting the country,” McEnany added.
Before the election Vanity Fair reported that Fox News board member, former Speaker of the House and Never Trump RINO Paul Ryan, pushed Fox executives to break with Trump.
After the election Fox quickly declared Joe Biden the winner which infuriated a large segment of the Fox News audience.
Fox bled viewers which led to Fox ceding the top spot in the cable news ratings wars for the first time since 2002, and dropping to last place behind CNN and MSNBC.
Network executives instituted several changes including adding a 7p.m. opinion hour show and handing pro-Trump host Greg Gutfeld a weeknight show at 11p.m.
The day before Fox News announced McEnany would co-host “The Five,” Fox also announced it hired Lara Trump as an on-air contributor.
That combination of moves made it clear that Fox News rejected the Paul Ryan strategy of turning the network away from Donald Trump and into another CNN.
Instead, Fox News appears to be doubling down on the pro-Trump opinion side of its programming.
