Fox News Channel is once again under fire.
But this time it’s from Donald Trump.
And now this Fox News Channel host’s career is on the line because of this attack on Donald Trump.
In recent months, Fox News Channel bent over backwards to demonstrate that their “straight news” programming differs from the primetime opinion hosts.
What that ended up translating to was Fox News Channel’s daytime “news” programming mimicking the Trump Derangement Syndrome one would find on fake news cable channels like CNN or MSNBC.
The face of Fox News Channel’s leftward drift is “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace.
Wallace picked up the anti-Trump torch from departed anchor Shepard Smith and never misses a chance to send signals to media critics at other liberal outlets that Fox News is willing to go along with the pro-impeachment narrative the rest of the fake news is promoting.
That brand of virtue signaling was on full display when Wallace interviewed House Minority Whip Steve Scalise.
Wallace demanded that Scalise admit that President Trump’s defense that there was no quid pro quo with Ukraine over military aid was a bunch of baloney and the Democrats’ impeachment hearings would expose the President’s supposed lies.
“Well, the president’s defense is that those things didn’t happen,” Scalise shot back. “And it’s not just the president’s word. President Zelensky himself said that the aid wasn’t conditioned and there was no pressure.”
Scalise also called into question the motivation and testimony of the crew of Deep State loyalists the Democrats called to testify as ‘Adam Schiff’s witnesses.’
Wallace fired back with an outrageous lie that these shadowy swamp creatures were “nonpartisan” career officials and Foreign Service officers.
“No, sir, they are career foreign service officers and these are people who worked in the Trump administration,” Wallace declared.
Despite the fact that it was obvious for all to see that these rogue operatives were pursuing a clear anti-Trump agenda, all three of Schiff’s witnesses were forced to admit they could not identify any impeachable offenses.
Wallace – of course – immediately took issue with that comment and tried to fool Fox News viewers with a stream of misinformation and distortions about what the pundits and observers Schiff called to testify answered to under oath.
“With all due respect—with all due respect, that very badly mischaracterizes what they said,” Wallace pushed back. “They were asked, William Taylor, for instance, the acting ambassador to Ukraine, was asked whether or not these were impeachable offenses. He said I’m there as a fact witness. I’m not there to pass judgment, but he made it clear what he thought about what the president was doing.”
After the interview was over, Donald Trump ripped Wallace as “nasty” and congratulated Scalise on a job well done.
“@SteveScalise blew the nasty & obnoxious Chris Wallace (will never be his father, Mike!) away on Chris’s lowest rated (unless I’m on) morning show. This kind of dumb and unfair interview would never have happened in the @FoxNews past. Great job Steve!” the President wrote on social media.
