Russia continues to raise global tensions with its invasion of Ukraine.
Everyone is looking for a way to stop this conflict.
And Fox News just shut down this plan to start World War Three.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an invasion of Ukraine representing the largest land war in Europe since the 1940s.
Ukrainian resistance and Western economic sanctions crippled Russia, isolated it from the world and stalled their military’s march to Kyiv.
But Putin will not bend.
French President Emmanuel Macron spoke to Putin for 90 minutes and reported to the world that the mad Russian president sounded determined to go all the way in Ukraine.
That led RINO South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham to post on social media the insane idea calling for the assassination of Putin wondering where the Brutus – one of the conspirators that assassinated Julius Caesar in the William Shakespeare play where the bard wrote his famous “Et tu, Brute?” line.
“Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military? The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out,” Graham wrote. “You would be doing your country–and the world–a great service.”
Of course, Graham clearly hasn’t read the play because after Brutus and collaborators assassinate Caesar bloody war breaks and Brutus is killed on the battlefield.
Graham continued on claiming the Russian people rising up and taking out Putin was the only off-ramp available in this war.
“The only people who can fix this are the Russian people. Easy to say, hard to do,” Graham wrote. “Unless you want to live in darkness for the rest of your life, be isolated from the rest of the world in abject poverty, and live in darkness, you need to step up to the plate.”
Responding to Graham’s tweet, Fox News host Laura Ingraham asked Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton to respond.
Ingraham prefaced her question to Senator Cotton by slamming Graham’s call to assassinate Putin as “dangerous” and “stupid.”
“Senator, is there any intel that you know that Putin’s days are numbered? I know Lindsey Graham earlier tonight tweeted that basically someone needs to quote, ‘take him out,’ or maybe I’m paraphrasing. But he’s basically saying someone should assassinate Putin. I don’t know why a sitting U.S. Senator would be tweeting that out. It seems dangerous and stupid to say that. And we like Lindsey Graham, but that’s just a stupid comment,” Ingraham stated.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz also slammed Graham’s assassination suggestion.
“This is an exceptionally bad idea. Use massive economic sanctions; BOYCOTT Russian oil & gas; and provide military aid so the Ukrainians can defend themselves. But we should not be calling for the assassination of heads of state,” Senator Cruz explained.
Even hinting at assassinating Putin could escalate this conflict into nuclear war.
It could also trigger reprisals against American officials.
That’s why President Gerald Ford signed a 1976 executive order banning the American government from assassinating foreign leaders.
Senator Graham supports amnesty, gun control and many of Joe Biden’s judges.
Those horrendous votes and policy judgement make it no surprise that Graham would endorse a crazy idea of assassinating Vladimir Putin.
Thankfully it was quickly rejected by Fox News, Ted Cruz and even the Biden administration.
