The Clinton family and sex scandals go hand in hand.
But this time Hillary Clinton went too far.
Now Hillary Clinton covered up an ugly sex scandal that has her in big trouble.
When Ronan Farrow broke the story in 2017 that Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein spent decades allegedly sexually assaulting women, it set off a cultural reckoning that birthed the “Me Too” movement that took down many liberal men in Hollywood, politics and the media.
Weinstein’s behavior went undetected for years because of his liberalism and political connections.
Bill and Hillary Clinton counted Harvey Weinstein as a major supporter and Weinstein’s prominent place in Democrat Party politics helped explain why his behavior was swept under the rug.
That all changed with Ronan Farrow’s fall 2017 article in the New Yorker that brought Weinstein’s allegedly predatory behavior to light.
But the road Farrow took to publishing this piece was almost as jaw-dropping as the allegations Farrow detailed against Weinstein.
NBC – Farrow’s old employer – spiked the story.
And in the months before Farrow published his piece in the New Yorker, Farrow wrote in his new book “Catch and Kill” that Hillary Clinton and her team leaned on Farrow to kill his story because of Hillary’s longstanding ties to Weinstein.
The Hollywood Reporter wrote how Farrow’s book described how “Weinstein also attempted to leverage his long-term relationship with Hillary Clinton to pressure Farrow, he writes. In summer 2017, while Farrow was trying to lock down an interview with Clinton for his foreign policy book — while also still working on the Weinstein story — he received a call from Clinton’s publicist, Nick Merrill, who told him that the ‘big story’ Farrow was working on was a ‘concern for us.’ Then, in September 2017, according to an email cited in the book, Weinstein wrote to Deborah Turness, the ex-president of NBC News who now runs NBC News International, to propose a docuseries on Clinton. ‘Your Hillary doc series sounds absolutely stunning,’ Turness responded.”
Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill disputed Farrow’s account.
“I genuinely respect Ronan’s work, but have no idea what Weinstein was saying to people to save himself. What I do know is simple: I’d already rejected a Weinstein Co proposed doc about the election before talking to Ronan. If HW misrepresented facts, it wouldn’t be the 1st time,” Merrill tweeted.
That denial rang hollow.
Starting in the 1970s with Juanita Broaddrick, Hillary Clinton spent decades attacking the credibility of women that stepped forward to accuse Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct.
These allegations could have destroyed Bill’s political career – and trashed Hillary’s future ambitions – so Hillary threw herself into the role of attack dog against Bill accusers.
When Farrow reported that the Clinton team leaned on NBC and Farrow to throw him off the Weinstein story it was just the continuation of a thread in Hillary Clinton’s life of protecting powerful liberal men from career-killing allegations of sexual misconduct.
