Ilhan Omar just can’t help herself.
The freshmen Democrat is constantly in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
But things just went from bad to worse when Ilhan Omar said this one thing that destroyed the Democrat Party for good.
Ilhan Omar recently appeared on BET’s #BlackCoffeeLive internet show.
The topic of the 2020 Presidential election came up and Omar was asked if she had settled on a candidate.
That’s when the interview flew off the rails.
Omar revealed that she wasn’t sure if there was a candidate in the Democrat field who could defeat Donald Trump.
Host Marc Lamont Hill asked Omar, “You mentioned Cory Book and Kamala Harris with regard to a bill. You did something with Bernie Sanders. You may not know this, but they’re all running for president. Where are you leaning these days? Have you thought about endorsing?”
“I have not and I don’t intend on making an endorsement anytime soon. I think it’s a little too early. There is lots of important conversations that need to be had about particular policies. Everybody has ideas that are closely aligned and so it’s within the details often that you get to pick your candidate. As a policy nerd, those kind of things really matter to me. I also think there is this question of how do we defeat the occupant of the White House? What does that process really look like? How do we not only energize our base, but also get to the soul of our country and reclaim it? I don’t know if we have gotten that candidate yet,” Omar responded.
Omar’s answer speaks to the difficulties former Vice President Joe Biden is experiencing on the campaign trail.
Biden is the establishment candidate with a massive fundraising apparatus behind him.
But the former Vice President attracts sparse crowds in his already few campaign events.
He only leads the race because of name identification and the belief that he’s the likeliest candidate to take on Donald Trump.
But the grassroots base of the Democrat Party – of which Omar speaks for – is highly skeptical of Biden’s age, the fact that he is a straight, white male, his stances on key issues, and his backwards-sounding campaign message.
Biden plummeted in the polls after his dismal Democrat primary debate performance in Miami as his aura of inevitability was shattered.
And for all the Democrats boasting about how Donald Trump is ripe to be beaten, Omar – one of the party’s rising stars – thinks the nominal frontrunner in the Democrat race is a weak candidate sporting a glass jaw.
The energy in the Democrat Party is with the socialists – represented by Omar.
But Biden is trying to run as a Hillary Clinton style corporate friendly leftist.
The anti-Biden vote in the Democrat primary polls far outpaces the pro-Biden vote.
And if the anti-Biden forces coalesce around another candidate, they will stop the former Vice President from seizing the nomination.
