Ilhan Omar is the most notorious member of Congress.
But her closest ally may be in hot water.
And Ilhan Omar had no idea what hit her when this massive scandal broke.
Michigan Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who became infamous after announcing that she would lead the charge to “impeach the mother*****” when referring to President Trump earlier this year, is on the verge of a political disaster unlike anything in recent history.
And it’s all over her comments about the Holocaust.
Fox News reports, “Tlaib drew backlash for comments she made during a Yahoo News podcast interview, where critics accused her of saying that the WWII genocide of six million Jews gave her a ‘calming feeling.’”
Tlaib went further. She also rewrote history to fit her narrative of being a victim.
“[Tlaib also was] offering revisionist history for claiming that Palestinians welcomed Jews to the Middle East when Palestinian leader Grand Mufti Haj Amin el Husseini was actually an ally of Adolph Hitler and met with the dictator in 1941,” adds Fox News.
Instead of condemning her comments however, many news outlets decided to defend her.
“The Washington Post has addressed inflammatory comments by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) about the Holocaust by focusing on the Republican response to her statements, rather than on Tlaib’s own remarks,” reports Breitbart.
This is a common tactic the leftist media uses whenever one of their own is caught with their foot in their mouths.
If a Democratic member of Congress says something reprehensible, the narrative is about the reaction among Republicans, rather than the comments themselves.
“The Post‘s tactic reflects an increasingly common approach by mainstream media outlets when forced to cover the latest extreme remark by a member of the Democratic caucus: paint the Republicans as the extremists by casting their reactions as overzealous,” adds Breitbart.
But no amount of smoke and mirrors can hide what Tlaib said, or how factually incorrect and morally reprehensible it was.
“I want all of us to feel safe. All of us deserve human dignity, no matter our backgrounds, no matter our ethnicity, no matter even our political opinions, we all deserve that kind of equality and justice. And, you know, for me, I wanted to uplift that and bring that to light and it was unfortunate,” Tlaib said.
So here we have a sitting member of Congress, with a long history of racist behavior and actions directed against Jewish people, now referring to the Holocaust as something that gives her a “calming feeling.”
But the real story, according to the Washington Post, is how the Republicans are “spreading outright lies” about her, and even the Holocaust itself, and somehow Tlaib is still provided cover for what she said by the leftist mainstream media.
“The Post described the controversy in an article headlined, ‘House Republicans criticize Rep. Tlaib over remarks on Holocaust, Israel.’ The newspaper did not cover Tlaib’s remarks on their own,” adds Breitbart.
“In the article, the Post defended Tlaib, saying that Republicans who had criticized her use of the phrase ‘calming feeling’ were ‘falsely accusing her of using the phrase to describe her views about the Holocaust itself.’”
