Joe Biden’s re-election campaign is off to a rough start.
Not only is Biden deeply unpopular, but not even Democrats want to see him run again.
And now, Joe Biden just shot his campaign in the foot with five outrageous words.
Joe Biden is vying to be the first Democrat to lose re-election since Jimmy Carter.
And with opinion polls currently showing that Biden is deeply underwater, it isn’t hard to believe that he is on track to lose in 2024.
But Biden doesn’t just have to contend with poor approval polling, or even the fact that many Democrats don’t want to see him run for re-election and aren’t excited about the prospect of supporting Biden in 2024.
Instead, Biden’s biggest hurdle to his own political career appears to be himself.
That’s because Biden has a longstanding history of uttering gaffes which almost always end up coming back to haunt him.
And Biden’s recent comments questioning his own ability to campaign and govern for another four years aren’t doing him any favors.
The Washington Examiner reports, “President Joe Biden cast doubt on his potential 2024 re-election bid Wednesday while speaking at the White House Tribal Nations Summit.
“Biden just finished delivering his speech when an unknown person in the crowd shouted ‘four more years’ at the president. The president waved the comment off and thanked the person.”
But Biden didn’t simply end there by taking the compliment from a supporter and moving on.
Instead, he directly cast his own campaign into question by suggesting he wasn’t even up for the task for another presidential run.
“I don’t know about that,” Biden said.
“Biden’s remark on the next presidential election comes a little less than a month after he and the Democratic Party experienced better-than-expected results from the 2022 midterm elections, with the party keeping control of the Senate and winning multiple gubernatorial elections across the United States. Ahead of the midterm elections, the Republican Party was expected to achieve massive gains in both chambers of Congress, though the ‘red wave’ ultimately failed to materialize,” adds the Washington Examiner.
Biden’s comment reveals what his own base and the vast majority of the American people have already known for quite some time, which is that he isn’t in a position to get the job done.
That’s why senior Democrat political operatives like David Axelrod, who helped to spearhead Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, have publicly questioned Biden’s fitness to run for another term.
Biden is already 80, and his record in office so far has seen Democrats lurch from one crisis to another as the disastrous Afghanistan debacle, the southern border crisis, and a historic inflation crisis have all plagued his administration.
Each of these issues have been triggered by Biden’s policy choices, and now, the American people have finally had enough.
“At least 66% of voters in an early exit poll from early November stated they do not want Biden to run for reelection, with nearly half of respondents saying Biden’s policies were hurting the country. The president’s age has also been a concern for many, as he just celebrated his 80th birthday on Nov. 20,” adds the Washington Examiner.
It remains to be seen whether any Democrat will step forward to challenge Biden however.
