Former Secretary of Defense James “Mad Dog” Mattis’s resignation last December shocked Washington.
Mattis resigned because he objected to President Trump’s plan to end Barack Obama’s war in Syria and everyone in Washington speculated as to how Mattis would exact revenge on the President.
Now everyone knows Mattis’s next move because Mattis just dropped this massive hint about challenging Trump in 2020.
Back in 2016, Never Trump RINO Bill Kristol begged Mattis to run as an independent candidate to ensure Donald Trump lost the election.
Mattis spurned that offer and instead signed up as the President’s Secretary of Defense.
However, Mattis and Trump forged an uneasy working relationship.
Mattis proved to be far more moderate than Trump ever expected and fought back against several of the President’s policy priorities.
As Secretary of Defense, Mattis opposed the President ending America’s involvement in Barack Obama’s disastrous Iran Nuclear Deal and Paris Global Warming Accords, fought against Donald Trump rolling back Obama’s order allowing so-called “transgenders” into the military and pushed for Trump to increase troop levels in Afghanistan.
But last December President Trump’s announcement that he was withdrawing American troops from Syria to bring a close to Barack Obama’s unconstitutional war in Syria was a bridge too far for Mattis.
Mattis resigned on the spot and ever since that day the fake and corrupt news media – as well as anti-Trump forces in the Washington swamp – hoped against hope that Mattis would use his platform as America’s most respected warrior to either savagely criticize the President or mount a third party candidacy in 2020 to help defeat President Trump.
On Sunday, Mattis appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and Democrat Party staffer and alleged “journalist” Chuck Todd was ready and waiting for Mattis.
Todd pressed Mattis on if he was holding back on criticizing President Trump.
Mattis let that batting practice fastball speed question pass by without taking a swing.
“Well, Chuck, I have a lot of faith in the American people. They know how to vote. They don’t need military generals telling them that they think this political assessment is the one they should go with, or the other one is, that sort of thing, especially as corrosive as the political debate has grown in the country,” Mattis told Todd.
“This would be the worst time, I think, for military people to step out,” Mattis added.
Todd even tried to get Mattis to rake President Trump over the coal for the decision to put American first and stop defending the border in Syria from Turkey even though Syria is a stated enemy and Turkey is a NATO ally.
Mattis once again passed.
“This would be the worst time, I think, for military people to step out like that,” Mattis responded.
Mattis cryptically responded that America needed the Constitution more than ever these days, but that is as far as the former Secretary of Defense would go in criticizing President Trump.
This infuriated members of the fake and corrupt news media.
Amazon Washington Post editorial writer James Downie whined that Mattis and other former Trump officials’ “silence helps no one. Now is the time for Mattis and others to speak out.”
Never Trump RINO pundit Matt Lewis ranted on social media about Mattis not criticizing Trump. “Sir, with all due respect, people don’t always read. Even when they do, repetition is important. You have a unique platform. Your voice matters. We need honorable leaders to step up, not shrink from the fight.”
Mattis has been clear that as a former member of the military he believes it is his duty to refrain from politics and criticizing the sitting Commander in Chief.
To the fake and corrupt news media, Mattis’s resignation over a policy disagreement with the President wasn’t enough.
These Trump hating so-called “journalists” desperately wanted that viral video that would explode across social media of Mattis ripping the President as a lout and incompetent.
But Mattis denied them that victory.
