Joe Biden’s presidential campaign is a smoldering wreckage that continues to burn.
But while the former Vice President is trying to get his campaign back on track, he’s now locked in a new battle with someone he never saw coming.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and him are now on the verge of open warfare after these explosive comments emerged.
Joe Biden represents a dying wing of the Democratic Party.
The former Vice President once stood out as one of the more left-leaning figures among Democrats, and his choice by Barack Obama to serve as Vice President was met with praise among liberals across the country.
But in the wake of President Donald Trump’s stunning election victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016, the Democratic Party has decided to move rapidly to the left.
And Joe Biden is now considered old news by even his own party faithful.
One of those who thinks Biden’s time is over is none other than Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the socialist Congresswoman from New York who won election last year after defeating a long-time Democratic establishment politician.
And with a following that numbers in the millions, Ocasio-Cortez is now taking shots at Biden that has left the two of them on the verge of a massive public brawl.
CNN reports, “Former Vice President Joe Biden expressed deep skepticism of the leftward tilt of the Democratic Party in an exclusive interview with CNN airing Friday.
“Biden, speaking with CNN’s Chris Cuomo in Des Moines, Iowa, suggested that ‘Medicare for All’ is irrational, argued that the majority of Democrats are ‘center left’ not ‘way left,’ and said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, while ‘brilliant’ and ‘bright,’ did not represent Democrats who can win a general election in a competitive district or state.”
In doing so, Biden took a veiled shot at freshman Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez.
And she almost certainly will respond with her own attacks on the former Vice President.
“That’s what this election is about. I’m happy to debate that issue and all those issues with my friends because guess what, look who won the races. Look who won last time out,” Biden said in an interview with CNN. “By the way, I think Ocasio-Cortez is a brilliant, bright woman, but she won a primary. In the general election fights, who won? Mainstream Democrats who are very progressive on social issues and very strong on education and healthcare.”
But Biden also took a shot at her, calling out Ocasio-Cortez for trying to run the party off a leftward cliff that could lead Democrats to disaster in 2020.
And Biden knows that history shows whenever a party moves too far to the extremes, they risk losing over most of the American electorate.
It’s a lesson that he knows well, but Ocasio-Cortez has no clue about since she’s in such a Democratic district in one of the bluest parts of the country.
