It was another disastrous day for a Democrat Party in disarray.
It was supposed to be a day of celebration.
Joe Biden got hit with the bad news about Andrew Cuomo that ruined his big day.
New York’s Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo stunned pundits and fellow Democrats by throwing in the towel and resigning in the face of a New York State attorney general report outlining allegations by 11 current and former female employees that Cuomo sexually harassed them.
One of the women even filed a complaint with the Albany County Sheriff’s Office to kick off a criminal investigation.
Media members and allies that followed Cuomo’s career expected the New York Democrat to fight to the bitter end and go down swinging.
But with Democrats in the state legislature preparing to impeach Cuomo by the end of the month, Cuomo threw in the towel.
“The best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to governing,” Cuomo said at his surprise press conference announcing his resignation.
Cuomo – though – maintained his innocence to the bitter end saying that although“the women came forward with sincere complaints,” Cuomo believed that “in my mind, I’ve never crossed the line with anyone. But I didn’t realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn.”
“You taught me and you taught others an important lesson,” Cuomo added.
Governor Cuomo’s resignation overshadowed what was supposed to be a Democrat Party victory lap.
Nineteen RINO Republicans pledged loyalty to Joe Biden’s agenda by casting a vote in support of a 1.2-trillion-dollar Green New Deal-style spending bill that includes critical race theory-inspired equity schemes, and a plan to study taxing Americans by how many miles they drive as a gateway to a 3.5-trillion-dollar bill drafted by Bernie Sanders to turn America into a socialist welfare state.
The 69-30 vote for Joe Biden’s spending binge was supposed to be the big headline of the day.
And corporate media members fumed that Cuomo’s fall from grace overshadowed Joe Biden’s “bipartisan” victory.
“Well, what is so notable, Pete, is the Governor of New York choosing this particular day and even this hour to make this announcement,” NBC News White House correspondent Kelly O’Donnell stated.
O’Donnell complained that Joe Biden and the Democrats “have just had what is arguably the most significant political victory of President Biden’s time in office, and Governor Cuomo is using the power of his own news-making ability to squash that in the moment.”
Cuomo’s disgrace denied Biden his moment of glory at a time when his poll numbers plummeted.
The latest Gallup Poll found a nine-point drop in Biden’s approval number from June to July.
Whatever bounce Democrats hoped to get out of the GOP surrender on Biden’s trillion-dollar spending bill got wiped out by Andrew Cuomo’s resigning overshadowing everything else.
