Eight months into his presidency and Democrats are already panicking.
Their biggest fear may come true.
And then Joe Biden got some bad news from a poll that will terrify Democrats.
Donald Trump continues to inch closer to a 2024 presidential campaign.
Democrats’ overriding fear is that Trump will win a second term.
Those concerns grew after I&I/TIPP published a poll showing Joe Biden losing five percent of his support from the 2020 election.
TIPP wrote:
The I&I/TIPP Poll asked Americans: “If the presidential election were held today, and the following were the candidates, for whom would you vote?”
Respondents were given the following choices: “Donald Trump, the Republican,” “Joe Biden, the Democrat,” “Other,” “Not sure,” and “Prefer not to answer.”
Just 46% of those who voted in the November 2020 election said they’d vote for Biden today, more than five full percentage points below his official total 51.3% share in the 2020 presidential election. That doesn’t mean voters are wishing they’d instead picked Trump, who in recent weeks has hinted at a possible re-run in 2024. The poll found 42% said they’d pick Trump now, down from his actual 2020 election total of 46.9%.
Joe Biden will be 82 years old in 2024.
There are already questions about his cognitive decline and limited schedule.
Biden’s poll numbers continue to fall as the latest Rasmussen poll shows just 40 percent of Americans approve of Joe Biden’s job as president.
The botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, the absurd message of a permanent pandemic through vaccine mandates, and a failure to create jobs created the image of Joe Biden as a doddering incompetent.
Joe Biden was not a politician that led a movement.
Democrats have no great love for Joe Biden.
If polls show Joe Biden declining in support and losing to Donald Trump, Democrats will replace Joe Biden in a heartbeat.
No president declined to seek re-election since Calvin Coolidge in 1928.
It would previously be unthinkable for a president not to seek a second term.
But Joe Biden was always a placeholder candidate.
Democrats got behind Biden after Biden’s two previous presidential campaigns ended in embarrassing failure because liberals believed Biden to be the strongest candidate to take on Trump.
During the campaign Biden even hinted that he would not run for re-election if he won by describing himself as a transitional figure to pass the baton to the next generation of Democrat politicians.
If Donald Trump runs for president he will compare his record on the economy, crime and the border to Joe Biden.
Polling data shows that could be a powerful argument.
And if Democrats think Donald Trump will beat Joe Biden, they will find another candidate.
