This was the moment Democrats never hoped would come.
But the day is here.
And Joe Biden is about to make one concession to Donald Trump that no one saw coming.
Joe Biden and his underlings do not want to use the word crisis to describe the calamity at the southern border.
But the administration is holding record numbers of illegal alien children in cages—nearly 19,000—and border agents encountered over 170,000 illegal aliens trying to pour into the country in the month of March.
This is an economic, security and political crisis for the Biden administration.
And the actions of top officials show they know this is a crisis even if they refuse to utter the word.
To try and head off a voter backlash that could oust the Democrats from power in Congress next November, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is considering a once unthinkable step—and that is resuming construction on Donald Trump’s border wall.
The Washington Times exclusively reports:
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told department employees he may restart border wall construction to plug what he called “gaps” in the current barrier.
In a conversation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees last week Mr. Mayorkas was asked about his plans for the wall and he said that while President Biden has canceled the border emergency and halted Pentagon money flowing to the wall, “that leaves room to make decisions” on finishing some “gaps in the wall.”
Mr. Mayorkas, according to notes of the ICE session reviewed by The Washington Times, said Customs and Border Protection, which oversees the wall, has submitted a plan for what it wants to see happen moving forward.
This is a significant concession for Biden to Donald Trump and reality.
When Biden entered office, one of his first moves was to sign an executive order halting all construction on the border wall.
Biden went so far as to not call it a “serious policy” and a “waste of money.”
“But building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution. It is a waste of money that diverts attention from genuine threats to our homeland security,” Biden’s order read.
Biden also rescinded the national emergency Donald Trump declared in 2019 to build the wall, calling it “unwarranted.”
“I have determined that the declaration of a national emergency at our southern border in Proclamation 9844 of February 15, 2019 (Declaring a National Emergency Concerning the Southern Border of the United States), was unwarranted,” the order continued.
Finally, Biden declared that no more taxpayer dollars would be used for border wall construction.
Less than three months later, Biden’s open borders policies and rhetoric invited a crisis.
And now Biden is forced to admit that Donald Trump was right about the wall.
