Joe Biden’s presidency is besieged by self-inflicted crises in both foreign and domestic policy.
Now all hell is breaking loose behind the scenes.
Joe Biden made this phone call to Nancy Pelosi that exposed one terrible truth.
Republicans and Democrats recently spent a weekend attempting to hammer out a deal to ban importing Russian oil.
America imports 670,000 barrels of oil a day and critics argued Joe Biden funded the Russian invasion of Ukraine by pumping money into Putin’s coffers by continuing to purchase oil from Russia.
This deal did not, however, include provisions to end Joe Biden’s war on American oil and natural gas production.
The legislation would not restart construction on the Keystone XL pipeline, order Biden to begin issuing new fracking permits on federal lands, or resume oil exploration in ANWR.
But the deal collapsed.
And it collapsed because of pressure from the Biden White House.
Fox News White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich reported that the Biden officials attempted to lean on Nancy Pelosi to pressure her to scuttle the bill.
“Sunday night, Ways and Means Democrats put out a press release about the bipartisan bill they were putting forward – but it was pulled down 5 minutes later. Reuters reported on it, but the bill was still never introduced all day yesterday because this source tells me the White House called Ways & Means Dems and told them NOT to move forward on it. Ways & Means Dems wanted to push ahead anyway – so at about 6:30 last night, someone from the White House called Pelosi’s office to intervene,” Heinrich reported.
That failed and Joe Biden personally called Pelosi to lobby the speaker of the House to scrap the bill to ban importing Russian oil.
Heinrich posted on social media:
She was “not moved by their arguments” and her office told the WH staff they would be pushing ahead – so around 9:30 last night President Biden himself called Pelosi and asked her not to do it.
But in a stunning move, Pelosi rebuffed the president from her own party and intended to move ahead with the bill.
At that point, the White House twisted the arm of Oregon Democrat Ron Wyden to pull out of the talks on the Senate side and blow up the deal.
“Pelosi, I’m told, still did want to move ahead. So the White House then targeted Sen. Wyden via Schumer, to get him to pull out on the Senate side so it would all fall apart,” Heinrich added.
Heinrich reported that Biden’s handlers jumped through all these hoops because they were afraid of the fact that the American people would see Joe Biden was not leading and that Congress dragged him kicking and screaming to this decision.
“They believe this is because the WH did not want to appear that they had been boxed in by Congress on this issue – but it’s a snapshot of the friction between the WH and House Dems beneath the surface,” Heinrich concluded.
