Kamala Harris’s political rise just hit a major speed bump.
Harris got handed a promotion that is not working out for her.
And now Joe Biden may drop Kamala Harris after looking at this polling data.
Over 50 days ago Joe Biden named Kamala Harris as his border czar.
At that time, the catastrophe at the southern border was the biggest crisis Biden faced, and Democrats feared the illegal immigration issue could inspire a 2010-style Tea Party uprising against them in the 2022 midterms.
Biden put Harris in charge of the border both so the public would think Biden was taking action to solve the crisis, and to have someone to blame if events went sour.
Nearly two months into the appointment, Harris has yet to visit the border or hold a press conference on how she plans to stem the tide of illegal immigration.
And the bad news keeps pouring in from the border.
The administration held a record 22,000 illegal alien children in custody.
In March, the Border Patrol stopped 172,000 illegal aliens from entering the country.
April’s numbers were even worse with 178,000 illegal aliens intercepted at the border.
State officials beating the brunt of the Biden administration’s open borders policies reached their wits’ end.
Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich dispatched a letter to Joe Biden calling on Biden to ditch Harris as his border czar and find someone competent who is actually interested in putting an end to this disaster.
“Her response to the border crisis has been absolutely abysmal, so I am requesting that she be replaced as your ‘border czar,’” Brnovich pleaded.
Brnovich explained that time was of the essence, and that Harris’s neglect of the border was crushing states like Arizona that had to bear the financial and humanitarian burden of a flood of illegal aliens being turned loose in their state thanks to Biden reinstituting the disastrous catch and release policy.
“We cannot afford to wait another day, week, or month of apathy and inaction by any official in your administration,” Brnovich continued.
Brnovich believed it was so important to remove Harris as border czar that he concluded his letter with a second request for Biden to find a new official to manage the border crisis.
“I conclude by respectfully requesting that Vice President Harris be replaced as America’s ‘border czar,’” Brnovichwrote.
New polling data indicates it may be in Biden’s best political interests to dump Harris.
YouGov found that in a survey of US adults—a sample that should benefit Harris from the simple fact there are more Democrats than Republicans in America—Harris was deeply unpopular with just a 41 percent approval rating and a 48 percent disapproval number.
Independents also rejected Harris by a 25 point margin.
The YouGov poll found:
US adults: 41% favorable / 48% unfavorable
Democrats: 74% / 19%
Independents: 32% / 57%
Republicans: 12% / 84%
Polls show immigration is Joe Biden’s weakest issue.
If immigration rises in salience with voters as the 2022 midterms approach and the border crisis spirals out of control, Biden may be forced to remove Harris as his border czar.
