Joe Biden has given his vice president a huge amount of power.
He’s leaving her to tackle a crucial crisis on her own.
Kamala Harris grinned ear to ear when she learned Joe Biden’s plans for her.
Thousands of children brought to America illegally are in federal custody and due to the surge in numbers, they are being housed in facilities that have been described as “akin to jails” where they have been subjected to “horrific conditions” that include “disease, hunger and overcrowding.”
When Vice President Kamala Harris was asked whether she’d be visiting the border she laughed and answered “not today.”
That didn’t stop President Joe Biden from announcing his plan to put Harris in charge of the migrant crisis on the southern border.
”I can think of nobody who is better qualified to do this,” Biden said after making the announcement at the White House.
And Biden has given Harris full power without even having to refer back to Biden.
“When she speaks, she speaks for me,” Biden said. “Doesn’t have to check with me. She knows what she’s doing and I hope we can move this along.”
Biden admitted he had given Harris a “tough job” but said she was “smiling” as he retired into the background allowing Harris time to speak.
“Thank you, Mr. President, and for having the confidence in me,” Harris said. “There’s no question this is a challenging situation.”
Instead of working to enforce America’s laws, Harris said she would focus on addressing the “root causes” of illegal immigration from Central American countries and support “shared prosperity in the region.
“While we are clear that people should not come to the border now, we also understand that we will enforce the law and that we also — because we can chew gum and walk at the same time,” she said.
Biden also thinks that it would be better to make other governments control America’s immigration.
“The Vice President agreed … agreed to lead our diplomatic effort and work with those nations to accept returnees, and enhanced migration enforcement at their borders — at their borders,” Biden said.“We’re already talking to Mexico about that.”
“They’ve announced they’re bribing Mexico with 2.5 million doses of vaccine in order to get Mexico to crack [Central American migrants’] heads down in southern Mexico … [and to] do the Biden administration’s dirty work [because] they don’t want to reimpose any of those Trump-era [border rules]. They’re hoping Mexico will do it for them,” responded Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies.
This entire crisis could be easily solved if the Biden administration would simply enforce America’s laws however they’re unwilling to do that.
