Kamala Harris is considered to be the Democrat with the strongest chance to defeat Donald Trump in 2020.
But the controversial Harris found herself wrapped up in a crisis that could be the final nail in her coffin.
That’s because this new scandal involves the one person that could destroy her campaign.
Before Harris was a Senator, she served as California Attorney General.
In that capacity, she developed a reputation as a police state dictator.
Harris oversaw tens of millions of dollars in civil asset forfeiture and jailed countless individuals for drug charges.
But in today’s Democrat Party, enforcing the law equates to white supremacy.
So in a recent interview with New York City hip-hop station Power 105.1’s ‘The Breakfast Club’, Harris wanted to make it clear she was on the side of social justice.
The hosts leaned into her views about marijuana and Harris declared she was in favor of smoking weed and cited her Jamaican heritage.
“Look, I joke about it, half-joking, half of my family is from Jamaica,” Harris exclaimed. “Are you kidding me?”
“I have and I inhaled, I did inhale,” Harris answered. “It was a long time ago, but yes. I just broke news.”
“Listen, I think that it gives more people joy,” Harris concluded. “We need more joy.”
Harris’ father, Donald – a retired Stanford professor who also worked with the Jamaican government – issued a statement ripping his daughter’s bigoted stereotype of Jamaicans as lay-about pot smokers.
“My dear departed grandmothers (whose extraordinary legacy I described in a recent essay on this website), as well as my deceased parents, must be turning in their grave right now to see their family’s name, reputation and proud Jamaican identity being connected, in any way, jokingly or not with the fraudulent stereotype of a pot-smoking joy seeker and in the pursuit of identity politics. Speaking for myself and my immediate Jamaican family, we wish to categorically dissociate ourselves from this travesty,” Donald Harris’ statement read.
This was an unheard of rebuke.
No one can ever remember a parent shutting down their own child in public on the Presidential campaign trail.
And this just capped off a brutal week for Harris.
Harris already faced scrutiny for her actions in the alleged Jussie Smollett hoax.
When Smollett first claimed that a marauding band of Trump supporters attacked him and tied a noose around his neck, Harris blasted the incident as a “modern day lynching.”
But as the days wore on and more facts poured in, it became clear Smollett faked the whole thing.
Police finally arrested him on a felony count of filing a false police report.
Law enforcement accused the “Empire” actor of paying two Nigerian brothers $3,500 each to stage the attack because Smollett was upset by his $65,000 per episode salary.
At first, Harris tried to play dumb and pretended that she never supported Smollett.
Finally, she was forced to issue a statement where she gingerly walked back her comments and claimed that Smollett’s fake story makes it harder for real victims of so-called “hate crimes” to come forward.
Overall, it was not a banner week for Harris.
She got caught in one lie and then made a racist joke about her home country.
