Kamala Harris took a trip that raised a giant red flag about Joe Biden’s future.
Kamala Harris’ spokeswoman Sabrina Singh confirmed a report in the New Hampshire Union Leader that Harris would travel to the Granite State to promote the Biden administration’s $1.9 trillion blue state bailout bill.
“@VPwill travel to Plymouth and Concord, NH this Friday to highlight how the American Jobs Plan will expand broadband coverage and workforce development,” Singh wrote on social media.
The location of the trip immediately raised eyebrows.
Republicans initially honed in on the fact that Harris found the time for a jaunt to New Hampshire to sell the administration’s trillions of dollars in socialist spending while also refusing to visit the southern border despite Joe Biden naming Harris to spearhead the administration’s effort to get a handle on the illegal immigration crisis.
But there was a far more interesting dynamic at play.
During the 2020 campaign Biden tried to reassure Democrats hesitant to nominate a 78-year-old white man in a party enthralled by identity politics that he was merely a transitional candidate who would pass the torch to a new generation of diverse Democrat Party leaders.
When Biden selected Kamala Harris as his running mate, everyone figured that the plan for Biden to serve one term as President was well underway.
And while it is true that New Hampshire figures to be one of the races next year that could determine control of the United States Senate, that also does not totally explain Harris jetting off to the state for a political rally.
Harris can use that Senate race as a convenient cover story.
However, the truth is New Hampshire is a key early presidential primary state and its Electoral College votes are often up for grabs in the general election.
In his first press conference as President, Joe Biden claimed he was running for a second term in 2024.
But Biden had to say that or else his presidency would have died on the spot as Biden admitting he wasn’t running for re-election would have rendered him a lame-duck President on the spot.
Kamala Harris is going to prepare to run for president in 2024 until the moment Joe Biden says he wants to win a second term.
Harris needs to build a base of support and a fundraising network to scare off any potential primary challengers.
Presidential politics and the 2024 campaign are the only reasons Kamala Harris is visiting New Hampshire.
