Attorney General Merrick Garland is under fire.
Garland ordered the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.
And now Merrick Garland instantly regretted telling this huge lie about the FBI raiding Donald Trump.
After 72 hours of silence Attorney General Garland stepped before the press and read a short statement that clarified nothing about the FBI siege on Mar-a-Lago and only raised more questions about why Garland personally ordered an armed FBI team to invade Trump’s residence.
In the statement Garland defended the Department of Justice’s silence claiming the department only spoke through court filings.
Garland stated:
Since I became attorney general, I have made clear that the Department of Justice will speak through its court filings and its work.
Much of our work is by necessity conducted out of the public eye. We do that to protect the constitutional rights of all Americans and to protect the integrity of our investigations. Federal law, longstanding department rules, and our ethical obligations prevent me from providing further details as to the basis of the search at this time.
This was a lie.
Biden administration officials realized Garland’s hapless statement where he refused to take questions only poured gasoline on the fire that the raid started.
Justice Department and FBI officials found sycophants in the corporate media that they knew would uncritically repeat their talking points.
The story the leakers put out through the Washington Post was that Donald Trump supposedly had documents relating to nuclear weapons that presented a grave threat to American national security.
The Washington Post reports:
Classified documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents sought in a search of former president Donald Trump’s Florida residence on Monday, according to people familiar with the investigation.
Experts in classified information said the unusual search underscores deep concern among government officials about the types of information they thought could be located at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club and potentially in danger of falling into the wrong hands.
This leak had all the hallmarks of one of the stories Deep State agents planted with their stenographers in the corporate press during the Russiagate hoax.
Naturally the story was anonymously sources.
And the leaker used the phrase “nuclear documents” that is sufficiently broad so as to allow the press’s imagination to run wild with worst-case scenarios so if the story ended up fizzling the leaker and the media would have a fig leaf to hang their hat on to claim they were “truthful.”
In addition, if these documents presented such serious threats to American national security why did the government wait 18 months to take them back?
Conservatives have seen this story before.
Anonymous sources feed the press an anti-Trump narrative that so-called “journalists” want to hear, and the media runs wild with five-alarm sirens about the walls closing in on Trump.
Days later these stories are revealed to be exaggerations or outright fabrications.
