The Senate held a final confirmation vote on Amy Coney Barrett.
Americans watched to see if any Republicans would break ranks and derail Barrett’s nomination.
And Mitt Romney said something about Amy Coney Barrett that is bad news for Trump.
Mitt Romney is a RINO and the Founding Father of the Never Trump movement.
Romney endorsed Joe Biden’s campaign for President by telling the world he did not vote for Donald Trump.
And even though Romney nominally spoke in favor of Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation to the Supreme Court, Romney used the occasion to attack President Trump and his supporters.
“Judge Amy Coney Barrett is exceptionally intelligent and impeccably credentialed. She is a woman of unquestionable character, the presence of which is essential to our nation’s confidence in the Court. I’ll be honored to vote to confirm her nomination,” Romney began.
Romney then transitioned to attacking the President and his supporters for exposing the truth about the FBI and Deep State plotters trying to bring down President Trump with the Russian collusion hoax and the impeachment coup.
“I also rise to address my concern regarding the division and contempt for others that is growing among many of our citizens. … Trust in the F.B.I. and the intelligence community, long admired for their integrity and professionalism, has withered with the attacks by both parties, though admittedly my party has been more vocal,” Romney ranted.
Romney also whined about attacks on the fake news media for acting like partisan left-wing hacks.
But there was no mention from Romney about the fact that the New York Post’s Twitter account has been locked for over two weeks because the paper tweeted out a story breaking the news about the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop and the allegations that Joe Biden was in on a corrupt pay-for-play influence peddling scheme.
Mitt Romney always tries to include some kind of mealy-mouthed “both sides” rhetoric to mask his attacks on Donald Trump and conservatives.
But the simple fact is Romney is a liberal that hates conservatives and will never call out Democrats in the same fashion.
One reason Romney lost the 2012 Presidential Election was because he never attacked Barack Obama.
But that’s because Mitt Romney is the leader of the type of establishment Republican that understands his place in Washington.
Romney and his ilk accept the fact that since Washington is a town fundamentally run by the left, if they want to be liked and be considered “one of the good ones,” they have to act like the Washington Generals to the Democrats’ Harlem Globetrotters.
Under these terms of engagement Republicans understand that their job is to put on a good show for the public, but ultimately lose at the end while acting as the butt of the jokes that celebratory Democrats tell each other.
In many ways, Mitt Romney’s loss to Obama – from the unfair press treatment to Romney’s refusal to lift a finger in his own defense – is why Republican voters turned to Donald Trump in 2016.
