Burial flags are given out by Veterans Affairs free of cost; “It is furnished to honor the memory of a Veteran’s military service to his or her country.”
However, Nancy Pelosi decided to give George Floyd’s brother a folded flag while journalists took pictures.
Pelosi then posted the pictures on her social media to let the world know about her generous gift.
“Philonise Floyd’s heart-wrenching testimony to the House Judiciary Committee left its mark on us all,” the Speaker of the House captioned her photos. “May this flag, which flew over the Capitol on the day of his brother’s murder, serve as a symbol of our shared commitment to securing justice for George and all victims of police violence.”
George Floyd’s death after his neck was knelt on for eight minutes is tragic and wrong, and Derek Chauvin, the officer who knelt on his neck, has been charged with murder.
But his has not been the only tragic death in the last month.
David Dorn was a former cop who was killed during the riot when he went to check on his friend’s business.
His death was tragic and wrong too, yet the media didn’t cover his death and Pelosi didn’t give his family a flag.
It feels like Pelosi is trying to gain political points from the death of George Floyd and that is disgusting and not helping bring peace or justice.
That is the way people saw Nancy Pelosi’s post on Facebook.
The comments show that the photo opportunity, which was a cheap grab for attention, did not work out in her favor at all.
“Pelosi You are a horrible woman. You have now trivialized the meaning of the US Flag. That presentation is for members of the US armed forces and veterans. Not a political game of pandering,” wrote one commenter.
“I am the mother of a fallen soldier, the folded flag is given to those who died serving our country or served in the military. This is a disgrace to our children who gave their lives for their country and to the Veterans who have worn the uniform!” wrote another.
Democrats are voicing their support for protesting our national anthem, defunding the police and turned a blind eye to the violence in the protests.
They’re showing they have no respect for our nation’s heritage or the people who have bravely served in the military.
